treatment of patients
My mother came out of a nursing home on August 18, 2009. She is supposed to have her blood taken once a week to determine coumadin levels. The first week she was home, a technician was sent to our home to take her blood. They were supposed to continue to come back to monitor her blood. Two weeks passed without a visit from another technician. When my mother went to her next doctor's appointment she was scolded for not having her blood taken and took it there. They found that she was way out of whack on her coumadin dosage and her vitamin D levels were extremely low, which has been affecting her mood and medication absorption. After that the issue with the technician not showing up was supposed to be solved.. We expected someone to come yesterday. They told my mom that they had the wrong address on file, which is impossible (seeing as the address they supposedly had was from three years ago and my mom has lived in two or three oher places since) because they already paid a visit to my mom thefirst week she was out of the nursing home.. at this address. I now have to go out of my way to take my mother to get hr blood tested on the other side of the city. I spoke with someone at the doctor's office I hae to take my mom to and she said that the East Side Clinical Laboratory lied about not having the right address, hich is apparent. So, I figured I'd have my mom call th east side lab to see if they'd reschedule for today like they told her yesterday they would. They told her that they wouldn't and I could hear my mother's frustration so I took over the phone call. I was IMMEDIATELY interrupted, put on hold, and my call was transfered to someone else. This person (Jane) lied some more, would not listen to my concerns, told me that I am supposed to be in charge of getting on them to check out her lab work, (which was something that was clearly set up through the doctor's office and they are paid to do their jobs so how is their job MY responsibiity) and was completely rude. I don't think that a doctor's office and a clinical lab should be cross with my disabled mother and I for mistakes that they made and lies that they told. They are telling each other different things than what they are telling my mom and I and it just isn't professional. This is my mother's health here, not a highschool debate team.
