When requesting a CD for $2.29 they add a hidden and unauthorized charge of 39.95. When you try to visit website it is down.

I received an automated call from my bank's Check Card Security department. It said that on or around July 11, 2008, a charge in the amount of $39.95 was declined by "GRANTSEARCH". I searched online for "GRANTSEARCH" to see if anyone else had the same problem and of course, they did. This is when I found out about a grant CD. I looked around the house and found it. I was addressed to me and everything but I didn't order it. I didn't think much of it because the charge was declined.
When I checked my bank statement today, I noticed two charges under the name "GRANTSEARCH" from the same date. This time, they went through. They were for $1.00 and $1.29. My bank gave me their phone number so I gave them a call to dispute the charges.
First, I spoke to a representative named Jay. He had to verify my first/last name, zip code and mailing address. He told me that the charges for $1.00 and $1.29 were for the CD's shipping and handling costs. I told him that I wanted a refund. Instead of doing so, he had to transfer me to his supervisor. When I asked him for a confirmation number in regards to the call, he said that he wasn't authorized to give me his employee number. I reiterated that I wanted a confirmation or reference number for the call, not his employee information. He told me that he didn't have a reference number but he'd transfer me to his supervisor. A few seconds after he placed me on hold, the call was disconnected.
I called back and got another representative. I couldn't understand his name but I had to verify the aforementioned information. He said that he saw the notes from my previous call and it said that I was disconnected. IMO, I think Jay disconnected my call on purpose. He may have been on some sort of retention team to keep people from canceling. Anyway, he transferred me to a supervisor. I requested a refund for the shipping and handling charges, as well as assurance that the $39.95 charge won't show up in the future and that my information is removed from their system. Only time will tell. He gave me a confirmation number for the call. I asked where he was located. He said Las Vegas, NV but there's also a call center in the Philippines. He also told me that the charge took place on July 11, 2008. I asked him what website it was from. He said that there were a few websites that were involved with the same service but the one I "signed up on" was www.grantresourcecenter.com. He said that my information was entered on secure.esecureorder.com. After my call was over, I checked that site and all it is is a "Contact Us"/feedback form.

Unauthorized charge for $39.95 for Grant Finder I have never requested! Beware all!

They debited $39.95 out of my account with out my knowledge or permission.
