Received a call from an "unknown number" at 7:57pm on my home phone (unlisted and on DNC registry). Gentleman with a heavy Indian accent identified himself as Herman Dawson from Easy One and told me "Congradulations, you have been selected to receive a $300 gas savings voucher."
Told him upfront, like I do with every solicitor that I am on a Do Not Call reigistry and asked how he got this number. He said it came through the research department. Then I told him upfront I do not have a credit card or checking account and if he was selling something that I had no way or purchasing said offer unless I received something in the mail regarding the "selection." He proceeded to call me a liar and why would I tell him such a thing. Told him that my credit stinks and I've written one too many bad checks. He stayed on the phone for 20 minutes telling me I was a liar and I had something to hide. Refused to tell me the corporate phone number when I told him I was going to report him for abusing customers. Then he proceeded to taunt me by telling me I wasn't even paying attention to what he was saying. When I read back to him the information he already gave to me, he hung up the phone.
Please, please, please people. Common sense...if it's too good to be true, something ain't right.
