unauthorized withdrawals
I had recieved a message last month from ebay to update my credit card information due to the fact my credit card had expired.
I was contemplating whether or not to continue using ebat after too many enormous transaction payments to ebay which didnt really help line MY wallet at all.
I mean, ebay charges you to list, then charges you a fee for a portion of the sale amount which in my book is double dipping.
How can they get paid twice?
The listing fee they say will be almost nothing usually ends up over 2 or 3 dollars in some instances.
One was over 5 dollars to list an item for sale (buy it now) @ 60.00 USD, and they took a final value fee as well!
Ebay uses deceptive tricks by way of confusing the seller to click certain buttons thinking they are going to pay a very minimal amount and end up paying through the nose.
Well, now my issue is this, how the hell did you withdraw money from my bank account when I did not update my new card info?
According to your records in my account history my card is expired yet you go ahead and take monies anyway?
here is what you see when opening my account summary:
Automatic payment method - Credit card
Credit card number: XXXX XXXX XXXX (XXXX)(expired) (last four X'd out for safety reasons)
Last update: Oct-06-10 21:32:53
Feb 24th withdrawal from my account to your fat wallet! My account was over drawn! I haven't decided to keep you ebay! How dare you!
What can I do in recourse about this?
They should pay the over draught fee, right?
Also I made a complaint about this board and they won't allow me to complain about it, how ironic though I went to other avenues which will be looking into it. They are selling our personal info such as cell/phone numbers and other identifying info to advertisment companies.
My cell is relatively new and from the government and only three people besides this site have it (my mistake) and I am now getting calls that I won a cruise or trip somewhere yeah right, and it started only after I signed up here and was demanded to give my phone number to register as a member.
Be careful, even this post will be taken down once they get wind that I posted this, contact me for more info!!! But do not call me!

Major scam and does not protect Sellers
I was an ebay seller for a year. I received alot ofpositive feedback, 1 neutral and 1 negative feedback. Ebay suspended my account all of sudden, because i broke their policy. Which one, I still do not know. I was tired of giving them all my profits anyway. I guess they checked my paypal account and found out that I used it to purchase items from China. Why should thisbe a problem, when the majority of ebay sellers are in china. Do they think Chineese sellers import goods from USA to resell? I guess ebay is run by an Asian.

Bad seller
Yes, read it and laugh all you want. I hadn’t used EBay for about 2 years and wasn’t aware of how things were working and was in a hurry to get my cash.
Here goes the story. Right.
I’m saving up to build my own computer, so I decided to start selling a few things on eBay.
To start with, my PSP. I put it up on EBay for $350 Buy it Now on Wednesday night. On Thursday morning, I woke up and it had sold. I was happy.
Someone in the US had bought it, and he emailed me his postage address and wanting to know the total price including postage. I emailed him that since it was meant to be posted to Australia only, I would go to the post office and find the costs to the US. So, on Wednesday I go to the Post Office and get the prices. $71.50 for Standard Air Mail, $89.50 for Express Courier and $40.85 for Sea Mail (you can’t send lithium batteries by air).
I emailed him that night (Thursday night) once I got home telling him of the options and the total prices.
I wake up on Friday morning and check my emails. He sent me another email telling me that he wanted the PSP shipped to his friend who is a missionary in Nigeria. I was fine with this, and he told me the prices of postage from the Aus Post website. I was fine with the prices.
Since I had not used PayPal or EBay for about 2 years, I was un-aware of how they worked now. I got an email, which I thought was from PayPal that morning, saying I had an Instant Payment from him and the money would be debited into my account once I had shipped the item and sent the so called ‘PayPal’ the shipment tracking number.
So on Friday, I go to the post office and send it off to the provided address in Nigeria by Sea Mail for around $45.
I get home, and send “PayPal” the shipment tracking number to receive my payment. So called “PayPal” said I would have my money in my account in 24 hours.
On Friday night, I get an email from EBay saying that his account had been hacked and that the listing had been removed. They said not to continue with the transaction.
Then a fake email from EBay came through saying it was OK to go through with the transaction.
I then studied the previous emails I got from so called “PayPal” and discovered they where phony email addresses. [email protected] but the name was [email protected], so in my hurried state I thought it was all fine.
I e-mailed PayPal, EBay and advised them of the phony emails.
EBay gladly refunded the $3.69 Listing Fee. Oh joy.
PayPal said they would look into it.
Anyway, on Saturday morning I hurry to the post office to cancel the package.
I get there and asked if I could stop it. They say “Oh sorry, it has already been sent and there is no way we can stop it”. I was like are you serious?
I’ve written up a report and have sent it to the QLD Police, and will soon send it to the Australian Federal Police.
It just disappoints me how people can do this.
I presumed that it was how PayPal worked now (having to send the tracking number for the payment to come through) since I hadn’t used it for so long.
These Nigerians are losers, dickheads and people with no lives. It disgusts me.
I’m really pissed off as now my parents now need to help pay for my computer.
Any suggestions on what to do?

Suspension
I was suddenly suspended on eBay because they said that my seller standards were not up to their par. This was something new that they implemented about a year ago. I believe that this is their way if getting rid of their small sellers because the IRS is now involved.

Ebay has no regard for the sellers and I think that it is ridiculous that the buyers can leave negative feedback but the sellers cannot. Some of the buyers are very anal and do not read descriptions before bidding on items. Some buyers also expect something major for very low cost. When they get what they paid for, they ccomplain.
I truly hate eBay and I'm so happy that they have some competition. Eventually I hope that eBay goes out of business!

ebay
ebay does not protect buyers from fraudulent sellers. A verifiable address is not required to do business, so it is impossible to locate these scammers who simply pull up stakes when they are finished stealing from the public. Hong Kong is a huge source of scams. Asian sellers flood the site with defective electronics. By the time you receive your item and the item stops working, it will work for a couple of weeks and then fail (the most common scenario) your window of intervention by ebay-45 days -is closed and you get a nice apologetic letter that they cannot help you. You are told to contact the scammer, good luck with that since his site is no longer online. there is no address registered with ebay or on your purchase. You can contact the FBI or a detective-of course they will drop everything and assist you with your $20.00 purchase or even your $200 purchase on ebay.

If you must shop on ebay-do not buy electronics from Hong Kong-especially when you see long lists of products such as MP3s, iPhones, or any popular gadget that has a tempting price. This is a warning sign. the Asian markets are huge knock-off markets. With electronics, unlike a pocketbook or shoes that you can still wear, your product will not work. do not agree to pay or send a check or money order or your bank information directly to the seller. A seller wanted me to pay outside the normal channels for some fictitious reason. I notified ebay who did nothing about this illegal request by the buyer that violated ebay's own rules.

Do not purchase anything where the seller tells you that there are too many items to be described and shows you a picture instead. I was scammed when a seller stated that he had 100 DVDs of current titles and there were just too many titles to list separately. He put up a photo of different DVDs. Also, set a price on what you feel is reasonable to avoid having a scammer have a third party run the price up. Emotional bidding is expensive. Be suspect when an opposing bidder is going neck to neck with you on an item. Look for an address before you buy and if you are spending a lot of money contact that seIler first to see if you get a good address and write it down for safekeeping in case of a scam later. You might want to write down all addresses before you send money off because ebay will not help you. I wrote down all info because thieves pull their info from the site. Ebay should not let sellers close their sites down without archiving the info.

Finally, when you get scammed, inform the world of the identity and ebay info of the thief. Most crooks operate via a pattern and you might help catch the crook after he tries to scam someone else one too many times. I am not talking about a legitimate dispute or misunderstanding but a clear undeniable rip-off. In the end you are taking a chance on ebay-the stomping ground of crooks, Amazon is a better place to buy.

Did not send the item in picture
I recently purchased a comforter set from china. the money was paid to the seller from my paypal account the day of purchase. The item came and was not the same as what was pictured. I did not mail it back because i was afraid I would not get the item I paid for. A few weeks later I received an email that I had not paid for my purchase and they red flagged my account as a non paying bidder !!! They kept sending me links to pay again! We are talking $250.00! It took a week of emails to have this red flag removed, but I will never deal with them again. The item was from China. I felt this was a very shady dealer even though they have multiple feedbacks. Sticking with ebay from now on!

Terrible customer support
Terrible, terrible, terrible.

I was forced to spend a full HOUR on the telephone with eBay's so-called "customer support" staff, all of whom had suspiciously middle-eastern-sounding accents, and had no problem leaving me on hold for ridiculous lengths of time.

I found the "support staff" to be highly incompetent at using both their phones and computers. I was told several times that the representative was taking so long to find an answer to my question because of 'technical difficulties' using his computer, and was actually disconnected after waiting on 'Hold' for nearly half an hour at one point.

When I called back a second time, I asked to speak with a manager or supervisor immediately, and was AGAIN put on 'Hold' for an in ordinate length of time. When the so-called manager finally came to the line, she (an Indian-sounding woman named "Joe, " if you can believe such a thing, ) proved useless when she promised to email me "an online COUPON for 10% off to show consideration..." which I have yet to receive, more than 4 hours later.

The frustration from being asked to wait "three to four minutes at most" on Hold, and then continually re-placed on Hold for what turned out to be an hour, with NO satisfactory results, was an unacceptable experience by American Business standards. It is clear that eBay's "customer support" team believes they can allow people to hold until the following business day in hopes the caller will simply hang up.

Perhaps in the country where these people are running their call-center they feel this is acceptable. I found it to be highly inconsiderate and insulting.

This was a most unfortunate experience.

Charges for shipping without warning
It seems as though the ebay site has changed for the new year. in the past when you clicked on print shipping label you were taken to paypal which has a good interface i am used to and if your label didn't print you could void and not be charged. now going through the same procedures i have been in the past i am now charged by ebay before printing label. i never attempted to print and voided the transaction within 20 seconds. now after chatting with an ebay rep i am told i must wait upto 15 days for refund. this totally ***.
