I recently checked into an Econo Lodge motel in Fort Myers FL. The room smelled like urine as soon as I opened the door, so I immediately went back to the registration office and asked for a refund. They told me the would not charge me card and gave me a receipt indicating I would be charge nothing. Two weeks later they charged my card for around $50 dollars. When I called the hotel they were completely unhelpful, claiming they could not find the charge. I then called customer service and after 6 phone calls and 3 weeks the matter is still not resolved. The customer service agents keep giving me the run around about not be able to find the charge, demanding that I send them a copy of my bank statement. If I don't get my money back I intend to sue. I am also going to contact the better business bureau and Master Card about fraud.
I strongly encourage no one to stay at Econo Lodge in the future.
