My husband and I were scheduled to stay at this Econo Lodge on April 17 and 18, 2009. We were in town for a wedding. The rate that we were told when we made the reservation was 74.95 per night. Upon arriving at the hotel the accomodations were horrible. The hotel in my opinion should not even be in operation. It was smelly, dirty, nasty and filthy and to top it off the water coming out of the faucet in the bathroom was BROWN!!! I don't live like this myself and certainly don't expect this to be the standard when I stay at hotels. We were so disscusted my the hotel upon our arrival we decided that a one night stay would be better vs. 2 nights since the accomodations were so bad. I informed the front desk that we would be checking out the next morning by the check out time and I was informed if I did so that my rate would go up to 112.99 since I was not honoring my 2 day reservation. I'm sorry but this was a huge problem for me. I was not leaving just becasue and not honoring the reservation. We were leaving due to the horrible accomodations which is the hotels fault! I asked to speak to the manager on that Friday, April the 17th. The manager was never avaliable to talk to me. After we left paying a total of $127.68 which my husband and I both feel was a complete ripoff, I continued to try and contact the manager leaving him voice mail after voice mail. After no returned phone calls I contacted customer relations of Choice Hotels. They said they would contact the manager and I should have a response within the week, but to no avail. Now we are out $127.68 and I feel that it was just not right. Hotels can charge what they want, but I don't feel they should have went up on the rate. Plus, we were there with another couple who also had a room there and felt the exact same way as us and decided to check out early as well. So they had someone else to check them out and their rate stayed the same. How is that fair??? The manager will not return my calls and I feel there is nothings else I can do.
