Scam
I just got burned by the ecost scamwagon!! Ordered a 23" samsung monitor and payed through paypal. Monitor showed up packed like crap with the base smacking around inside. I shouldn't have even bothered opening it but I did. The monitor had no cables, no warranty info, and was wrapped in a sheet of thin foam. After taking the foam off I noticed the monitor had fine scratches all around the bezel and had a completely different stand than was pictured on the site. It is basically a different model than what they have pictured. I called thinking oh man they are going to want to hear about this. Boy was I wrong. They initially were acting as though I was out of line for asking for an RA#. Then they told me they would issue an RA# only if I took pictures of the monitor and scratches. UNBELIEVABLE!!! You send me a damaged item that isn't even what I ordered and now I have to send you pictures of the dam thing. Get bent!! Steer clear of this crap company. The negative reviews I'm finding after the fact make me feel like an idiot for ever doing business with them.

Fraudulent sale of incomplete item.
I ordered a Samsung T240HD 24" 1080p LCD HDTV which was shipped by eCost to me on their Web Order # E8577007. When received, the only contents was the monitor itself. No other accessories. Surprise! Missing were
User Manual
VGA Cable
DVI Cable
Power Cable
Audio Cable
Support Disk
Wireless Remote Control
When I contacted Customer Service at eCost, I was told to contact Samsung at 800-726-7864 and Samsung would send to me all of the above accessories at no cost.
On calling Samsung, Samsung said that they do not provide any accessories for refurbished monitors.
Furthermore eCost only provides a 60 days warranty for a basically unusable product that they sent. For about $35 more I could have ordered a NEW unit from a reputable web reseller. What a mistake!
I strongly believe that eCost has not been straightforward and been fraudulent to get and keep the sale. They can not be reached as I am kept on perpetual hold when calling the Customer Service manager's telephone number as given to me by eCost's customer service person (1 hour, then I quit).
I am seeking to stop payment to this fraudulent company, refund my money, and they can send a call tag to get their monitor returned to them.
Meanwhile I am complaining to the Chamber of Commerce and Better Business Bureau in Plano, TX (where eCost is located, according to their web site), and initiating a law-suit against them in Georgia. This company is truly a case of BUYER, BEWARE!!!

No customer service
I have NEVER had a more MISERABLE and FRUSTRATING online shopping experience in the 12 years I have been shopping with internet retailers. On March 9, 2009 I ordered a Westinghouse 26' LCD TV from ECost.com. I THOUGHT it was an AMAZING deal so I also bought the Square Trade Extended Warranty as well. When I got the TV and went to set it up I discovered that it had NO base with it for the TV to sit on.
The screws for the base were in the bag with the remote control and the booklet, but NO BASE. I immediately called the Customer Service number. It took several days, a few emails and 2 more phone calls but I received a base in the mail, FINALLY. I was thrilled, I took it out of the box and discovered it was the WRONG BASE and could NOT be used! Once again I called ECost.com and was once again told they would forward my complaint on to a resolution Specialist.
4 days later I get an email stating that I needed to return the ENTIRE TV and repurchase another one. WHAT THE HECK???? ALL I NEEDED was a BASE for my TV. Today was the LAST STRAW for me. I was placed on hold for 15 minutes and then I spoke with someone who CLAIMED to be a supervisor who talked to me like I was a criminal or something. She REFUSED to help me, and told me that I would have to do it THEIR way or NO WAY and I would be stuck with a TV that is balancing on my dresser without a base stand.
I simply can NOT afford to pay for another TV and shipping and allow ECost.com to hold onto over $600 of my hard earned money while I wait to be refunded for the TV without the stand. I have spoken to customer service reps on 5 separate occassions and each time I was treated as if I had done something wrong. I have worked in Customer Service for many years and if I EVER talked to a customer the way I have been talked to I would have been fired immediately.
Apparently they do NOT CARE about their customers OR the crappy products they are selling to consumers!!! This has been a NIGHTMARE, and I intend to blog about this on EVERY, SINGLE consumer rip off and complaint site I can find. I am BEYOND IRATE at this point, and STILL almost a month WITHOUT A RESOLUTION!!!

scam!
Company is a complete scam! They advertise these incredible bargains but you have to join their Premium Platinum Club to get these deals. I even read the Terms and Conditions which clearly shows (look at the attached photo) a trial membership for 30 days. But no, they charge you immediately and THEN you discover than none, NONE of the items in their advertisement are available at the price they teased you with. NOTHING IS AVAILABLE AT THAT AWESOME PRICE! I immediately called to cancel this bogus club membership only to be told that it is impossible and that they will continue to charge my card $39.95 every year whether I want it or not!
This is a huge scam, I cannot believe they haven't been put out of business by someone in authority.
DO NOT BUY anything from ecost.com!!!

Want to return order E8562927 - did not know it was refurbished - Buffalo 4TB TeraStation
I recently purchased a Buffalo 4 TB TeraStation NAS Multimedia Storage Server from ecost.com . The item was not listed on their website as refurbished when I made the purchase. When I received the product there was a letter from the manufacturer explaining that the product was refurbished and that autobackup software that comes standard with new versions of the product was not included with the refurbished product. I immediately emailed and later phoned ecost.com to let them know that I was unhappy with the refurbished product and wanted to return it. The customer service people I spoke with informed me that the site's policy was that all sales were final and no returns were possible. When I asked to speak with a manager I was told that no manager was available, but I was assured that a manager would return my call. No one called back. Today I called again and had another agitated conversation with a customer service person who repeated the company policy to me several times despite my requests to speak with his manager. Eventually I was transferred to someone's voicemail in which I left a detailed message about the purchase and my unhappiness with the company policy. I have not heard back from anyone yet. I plan to file a dispute with Bill Me Later (my payment method) at the end of this week if the company does not resolve the issue.

Terrible experience
The membership promises an opportunity for access to bargains before they hit the regular web offer. It doesn't happen you could stay glued to your monitored 24x7 and never catch the offers they advertise. The site is poorly updated and shows inventory that is not available even when offered. The stuff that is really available usually isn't what your looking for. It's the old bate and switch. The regular 'Bargain Countdown' has better offers and doesn't cost you anything up front. My advise is don't waste your money.

Deceptive Practice
They advertise these fantastic deals if you become a platinum club member for $39.95 and supposed free shipping if you join. Once you join, none of the items they advertise ever show up in the platinum countdown or new items sections. You only see that you've missed the item. The shipping only applies to shipments under 10 LBS. Do not join the club, it's a rip off.

Online fraud
eCost has it down when it comes to Dishonest and Deceptive Advertising. They first get you to pay them extra money to be a member of their Platinum Members group where they promise 'Outrageous Offers' and they are really outrageous offers like the $19.99 JawBone II or a $49 Nuvi-360 and then they claim that these will appear on their web site sometime between 11 AM and 11 PM Pacific time to keep you checking and looking for this offer.
Some times it looks like the offer actually appear, but most of the time it never does but still they post a note that the item has terminated and you never have any opportunity to actually purchase it. Other items that are on the list with very limited quantites and so when you place an order to purchase it, the order is later canceled with no reason or cause listed...
Looking at the normal prices, they are run of the mill and often they are selling Remanufactured products for only pennies less than some other sites sell the same thing new.
I have purchased a couple of items from them. The first was a perfect sale with zero problems other than a bit slow on the shipping. The second time I actually got a purchase through it arrived with parts missing and instead of fixing the problem I had to contact the manufacturer and request the missing parts. When in fact the packaging was open when I received it and so it is pretty clear to say eCost never shipped the complete item and knew it.
I wish I had seen this site before they got me for the extra $39 for the Platunum membership. Now I have to hope that at some point I find something that is discounted enough to break even ont he deal. But I have my doubts that it will happen.

Bad service
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ECOST!!! Their policies are EXTREMELY unfair to buyers. I received a defective Linkstation and was told I cannot return it and they could not replace it since they were out of stock. They only left me one options, which was to pay for a much more expensive model.
Hmm...let me think...what if the more expensive model comes to me defective too and it just happens to be out of stock. Then what?
Also, I noticed their replies on this site is another slap in the face to any dissatisfied customer.
