I went to a edifi meeting back in march and listened to a lecture about how Edifi could help my parents fill out fafsa info and find scholarships because it was so hard to do. We have paid off over half of what we owe with our contract and have recently discovered this about the company:
1. They claim the students counselour recommends the student to them. This is false. My counselour knew nothing about Edifi and I later found out that they find a name the student uses online and then send them an invitation.
2. They claim they can help find up to 100% financial help especially if the student is enrolled in a private school (which is my situation). My mother called and asked how much they could find and the man quoted her at only 36% in helping find scholarships and etc.
3. They give only 5 days to cancel a contract from the day you sign it. Anytime after that there is a insane "late cancelation fee".
4. My parents had to close their account twice due to withdraws the company took without permission from one of my parents.
5. Overall, they charged my parents $885.54 for a binder, a handbook and for me to use their website which I didnt need in the first place. They never did go through any of our info to give us help and they also failed to tell us that the services they provide are done by the college for free. Not to mention the fafsa is not nearly as hard to fill out as what they say.
I feel as though I was played for a fool by believing them. I realize I should have checked into it more beforehand but they seemed like a very legit business so I never figured I would have these problems. This business has a F rating from the Better Business Bureau and should not be allowed to squander peoples money like they do, but beware if your son or daughter gets a invitation from this business.
