Feb. 19, 2010 (Phoenix) - Employees at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's Phoenix District Office have come up short, two hundred fifty thousand dollars short. "We receive minimal training and supervisors ration supplies because we don't have resources and funds, " said one employee. "Yet, our district is missing $250, 000 and as a taxpayer, it upsets me."
As case loads increase because of unemployment, those filing charges are forced to wait months and even years for their cases to be processed. The missing $250, 000 could have paid the salary of additional investigators to help with the record setting number of cases filed last year. Instead, the $250, 000 simply disappeared. An influential anonymous source said, "Instead of investigating the missing money, the EEOC has swept this scandal under the rug."
