security check
I flew from Luton, London to Tel Aviv on 28.01.2011. I checked in online and didnt checked any luggage in as I had only my small cabinsize trolley with my laptop, medication, some clothes, altogether 7 kgs (weight allowance 10 kgs). Security check took place 40 min.before taking off at boarding. The manager was rude, ordered to check in my laptop and send it in the belly of the plane.3 months before that I had flown from Heathrow, then I was allowed to take my laptop aboard. This manager said it was HIS decision, he didnt care what had happened other times - I either send the laptop or not fly. Polite, European-standard - isn't he? I said alright as time was passing. He told me to have the body check, it took place in a separate room and by the time I returned all my staff was gone! Not only my laptop but my trolley as well. The manager also disappeared. The female officer asked his colleague about my trolley and he answered it had been sent to the belly as well. And said sorry. And went off. I had sore throat, on the plane there wasnt any medication, no painkiller, nothing. I had temperature, I was suffering, my throat was burning. On arriving I found that my trolley and laptop had been sent separately, my trolley was going around on the belt, my laptop was on another belt with over/undersized luggages. It was obvious there was laptop inside the packing, it was a matter of luck it had not been stolen.I sent complaint to the customer service in London, Tel Aviv, and the CEO as well. After 6 weeks I got a letter in which I'm explained that the decision is of the manager always depends on the circumstances on the day - alas they can do whatever they want depending on their mood... and also an apologizing sentence that I didn't have any chance to take anything out of the luggage before it was sent to the belly. That is it! I don't know what they would say if I had heart diseasea and had a vital medication in my bag... Low customer service, low security managers...never ever flying with ElAl.
