deposits
Yes, there should be a class action filed. There still is the better business bureau. Recently, FPL asked to be able to raise their rates or add a fee or some d*** thing. The state refused. Now I just got a bill for $54 because my electric bill was higher than usual. DUH, it's been cold. I cannot afford to take these monsters to court. I will however purchase a generator and cancell my account. I will make a complaint to the better business bureau. I will never get my deposit back. Ever and they know this. To suck people dry like this in these hard times...I am working to get out from under the corp[ortions before the bottom drops. Their greed is unconscinable and I have had enough. If no one bought electricity, then what do you think would happen to them?

utility shut off
This is a complaint I sent to Progress
Energy in Florida on March 3, 2009
Today, my sister and I spent about an hour negotiating with a customer representative at Progress Energy trying to get assistance for my parents who reside in Eustis, Florida.
In late December, my mother's husband had quadruple bypass surgery and my mother, for the third time, was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia and just released this past week to come home to no utility services. They were turned off. My mother is almost blind and relies heavily on lights to be able to see, even if it's difficult, but with enough lights she's able to see somewhat. Both parents suffer from diabetes and now, my stepfather is unable to work so the only source of income until his application for disability is processed is my mother's income from SSI. The first thing they always pay is the mortgage because they don't want to lose their home. I live in a city in Texas, and it's amazing how the electric company here provides a myriad of services to protect their customers and in particular their senior citizens. Not only that, but they go out of their way to get involve in the community and search out the needs and gaps in services in order to improve on their services to the community. They LISTEN to the community. What is Progress (Progress is a misnomer by the way) doing for seniors in Florida? My parents are owing an astronomical amount of money to your company without any recourse and nothing from your company to help, besides your budget program, which is actually does not make any sense. There is something very, very wrong. Very wrong. I intend to send this to the newspapers in florida, the state senator, congressmen, city reps, etc. Someone, somewhere has to do something. You have citizens that are your customers, what are you doing about it?
