Power Outages
I moved into this building about 9 months ago and have realized why it's so difficult to live in this building. For several summers now there have been countless power outages and NYCHA has not been responsible enough to fix the problem. I understand that we do not pay for electricity but if that's what needs to happen for this problem to be fixed then please charge me for electricity. Randomly during the day, I could be working on my computer or avoiding the heat outside and the power will go out. Supposedly this has been going on for years during the summer time. And it only happens to the A-line of the building. I will do what needs to be done to fix this problem if it is not fixed immediately. Every time YOU send out an electrician it's always a temporary fix. The power has gone out about 5 times in the last month and a half. Why should I have to leave my apartment because the power decides to go out? Do you want us to burn to death in our homes? Think about the harm it does to our electronics every time the power goes out. I bought a $2000 computer recently and I do not want it to fry up because of this stupid fixable problem. It is simply unacceptable. All my neighbors on the A-line will agree that this problem needs to be fixed and if you need a petition to prove it then I'll provide you with one.

No basic facilities provided
Dear Sir,

We are resident of Shah Latif Town (Bin Qasim Town) Karachi which is located near FAST University. Even after 30 years of town development, this area is deprived of any electricity, roads, Gas and telephone lines. Neither federal government nor city government owns this area properly. All previous governments have promised electricity, roads and other basic requirements in this area, but nothing is provided yet.

I am a student and find it very difficult to study in torch light. Moreover, it pains me to see my mother working all day long to preserve food without any refrigeration and washing all the clothes with hands daily. Even transferring of water from underground tank to the over head tank has become a nightmare.

We have visited the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) office many times but to no avail.

Kindly direct your attention to this area and provides basic facilities to the people residing here as soon as possible.

We would be grateful to you for these acts of kindness.

RECONNECTION AND SERVICE FEES
Good day

This is just the tip of the ice bag of what I have to go thru every week with city of Tshwane. I have two accounts for the same household which after a long battle I was told the other one is for rates and taxes and the other one for services, I went personally to Akasia City of Tshwane in 2001 after the death of my husband to report his death but the other account still comes under both our names and the other one is on my name only.

A lot has been happening but only in the last month, I finally made a loan( I had to resell my house to myself) from Absa to pay this account and get it over and done with, I requested my attorney's to send them guarantees and they confirmed receipt of the guarantees by sending the copy of the clearance certificate to my attorney on the 04/03/2011 and they finally switched on my lights on the 15/03/2011, now because they had the guarantees to assure them that after registration of the house they will be paid, I was very surprised to get home on 06/04/2011 to find they have ripped my cable as per attachment, I had to take leave from work and personally go there after I didn’t get help from Jerry Moloisane who was the person who has been handling my account, who understands the situation better than anyone I had to intervene with at Tshwane, but he told me he couldn't help and I guess he did that because he once asked for R500 to pay the guys to come and switch on my lights quicker, which I flatly refused as I had followed the legal route, all of a sudden he told me he couldn’t help me after he has promised my manager and my lawyer that I will have my lights on the following day. After having to sleep in the dark on 06/03 I went to their offices on 07/04, had to go from the first floor and sent to I think about 7 offices before I was told the only person who can help me is the same Jerry who said he can't help me, me and some guy by the name of Francois who sits on the 2nd floor in 373 City of Tshwane offices went personally to see him, he then directed me to the right people and I finally spoke to Caiphus and he went through my case and told me my account was suppose to have been "flagged" because of the guarantees but that was not done hence my cable was ripped, he made arrangements for the lights to be switched on. The very same day I got the attached for the other account?????????

On Monday, while at work, my helper called me to advise that my electricity has been cut off, only to find the same story of the ripped cable to the same account number that was switched on on Thursday, something is not very lekker or someone is not doing her/his job in that offices.

My question is who is liable for this costs as in all instances it is their fault for not flagging my account as they said, and this is not the first time this is happening. Just the outstanding on both these accounts shows there is something wrong with their system.

Please look into this urgently as it is truly taking a lot out of me, imagine being charged those amounts including the reconnection fees for someone who didn’t do their job.

I am going out of my wit ends with this offices, can you please advise further.

I have had the worst experience with Alabama Power! I am still in shock!
On March 10th 2011 I moved where the Landlord included power with the rent. This worked for me as a single parent since my x husband left us with bills. I have had to do this since 2008 due to raising kids by myself & not making much money. Anyway, my Landlord called the power company and requested power to be turned on @ his rental home which was on his property of 50+ yrs. He was told that the previous tenant had a large bill. The mgr then asked who the new tenant was. She continued to insist that I was the previous tenant, several times! This manager gave me & my Landlord the previous tenants personal bill amount. She also gave my Landlord my personal information. Her next move was to tell Him that He HAD to pay either the previous tenants bill or mine before She would allow the power to be turned on. On 3/10/11 we went to their office & showed our driver license. The rude clerk told us the power would be on the next day, the 11th. When they didn't show up, we called. That is when we were told all of this. It was Friday. My landlord paid my previous bill due to me already paying him for rent which included power, water, & trash. The mgr then didn't allow power until just before closing on Monday March 14th, 2011! I had just moved into this home the Monday before all this happened. So there was still power on and we planned on power in my Landlord's name since He wanted to do work @ the home if I moved without power issues in a tenants name. So all my food spoiled as well. I don't understand how this mgr can do what she did & there be no repercussions for her or the clerks actions! I feel they violated my privacy, & the previous tenant. She also forced payment from someone who wasn't responsible for my past bill. Electricity is a necessity! This is not a luxury! There has to be some resolution for these issues for all of us, not just me! Especially when proof of Ones situation is provided & they don't even try to work with a customer!

Deposit
I just established service with FPL and was told that I had to pay a deposit of $184.00 up front because of the area that I lived in coupled with the fact that Equifax wasn't showing any credit history. I was then told that I had if I was late as a result of the astronomical deposit I would then be charged additional "deposit" on top of any late fees. Highway robbery! The area I am moving into is considered Little Haiti so I feel it is extremely prejudice of FPL to charge people in one area more money than people who live in other areas. I actually have immaculate credit but because of some magical glitch I am being taken out to pasture and slaughtered for my innocence. Monopolizing thieves!

Please be informed that there are nothing any outstanding arrears against my Accounts No.1706817640013 and we have to use regular payments of our Electric Consumption Bill and already been paid bill for the month of April 2010 Rs.892.00.

Now we received a surprising bill on 03-06-2010 for the Month of May 2010 for Total Rs.8, 100/- unit consumption 150 alongwith an arear Rs.7, 302.93. While we are paying Electrical bill regular basis month by month as per consumption then how it raise an arear for Rs.7, 302.93.

It seems to be an error indded, and erroneously my account have been charged an arear mentioned above. You are, therefore requested to kindly look into the matter sympethiticlly on humanatarian ground and ask to the concerned person to correct the bill at your earliest enabling me to pay the Bill for the Month of May 2010 in time.

Dear Sir, I am a working person and getting a sum of Rs.8, 000/- PM hence it is very painful and difficult to pay the huge bill received by you.

Meanwhile there is heavy load shedding 4 to 8 hours daily but we also use electricity very carefully, not even switch on fans in summer to minimize the bill, it is very sad that despite of that we are being charged so high, please reduce our bill to correction.

Meter reconnection
My meter was removed on the 11/02/2010 and I was summoned to pay a fine of R720 of which I did on the 26/02/2010. I called Eskom to notify them about my payment and I was told to wait for 14 days of which I did but my meter has not been reconnected till now. I usually called to get an update because I have payed. I am complainig about Eskom delegation my meter should have been installed by now and I did not steal electricity my reference no 33926519.

ridiculous electricity bill
I recently recieved a bil from reliant energy, my usuall bill never goes above $250, but for dec i got a bill for$450, and then they changed the meter in dec and now my jan 10 bill is $667 dollars. when i called hey said that they had to change the meter becuase it was runing slower than it suppose to, and he gave me an excuse that it does that sometime because of bad weather, but the thing is it's brand new house built in 07, i am about to file a complaint with the better business bureau, and the attorny generals officce, and the federal trade commision. I will pay my bill i'm just wondering is there anyone in my area who has the same problem with reliant somehow fattening peoples meter reading in order to charge more, cause i am on a fixed rate so i don't understand, since they won't give me reasonable anwser. MY Email is [email protected] maybe the problem isn't isolated if you have been overcharged by reliant please email me maybe there needs to be a drastic action taken in order for someone to pay attention to the consumers in the state.

RIP OFF
Gexa Energy is a complete RIP OFF. The worst service EVER. I have been disconnected 2 times in 10 days. Now how can this be. I got a message from them about my service. I called and spoke to a rep on Oct 27. She told me i needed to pay $200. I did so that same day. On Nov 3rd guess what, my service was disconnected. I called to find out the problem. I was told that the bill was $279 and I needed to pay $79 to be restored. SO THEY CUT ME OFF FOR $79. WHY DIDNT THE REP TELL ME $279!!! I did so. I paid the $79. I had to stay in a hotel that night. That cost me $100 more bucks. So, on Monday Nov 10th I paid another $300 because I want to pay this place completely off. Guess what, my service is OFF TODAY BECAUSE THE BILL IS $331.00. THESE PEOPLE TURNED OFF MY LIGHTS FOR $31 BUCKS. UN-FUCCIN-BELIEVABLE!!! This is the problem... Why wasnt I told a correct amount to be paid? Why did one rep say $200.. then still cut my lights out... why did another rep tell me $79 to restore then they restore me... then I pay another $300 and they disconnect me for $31!!! It makes NO SENSE. ITS A RIP OFF. NOW I HAVE TO PAY RE-CONNECT FEE'S. Today I paid another $300.. Now they say I have a credit because the current bill isnt due until Nov 23. I mean can you believe this. Also, the dont offer any kind of assistance. Say your bill is due on the 20th but you cant pay it until the 25th. If you have gotten a disconnection notice in the past 12 months there is no help for you.. NOT DISCONNECTED JUST A NOTICE IN A YEAR. I mean what is that!!! Also, I have been asking them why my bill is so high. Some months my bill is like $400. I even had them come and check the meter. I thought that it was from my pool pump running for have the day. Guess what, they had me on avariable rate plan of 27 cents kwh!!! CAN YOU IMAGINE. I called over and over and asked them this... So now I have switched to some contract for 12.9 kwh... I want to cancel them so bad... but to cancel you have to pay $250. WHAT A RIP OFF. HORRIBLE SERVICE. RUDE REPS. JUST STUPID STUPID STUPID. F ME FOR EVER GETTING THIS SERVICE. IT IS THE WORST!!!1
