Air Conditioning repair
My air conditioning was out on my 1995 Lexus SC 400 with 68, 000 miles on it. The service dept said they would have to do a presure test using a dye to see the leak was coming from. The finding was there was a line that needed to be replaced. Cost of the work $700. I agreed to have the work performed. One week later the air goes out again. I bring it back in and now I am being told its the seals in the compressor. I was told the compressor was OK, and the seals just needed to be replaced. At this time I asked was this the only thing that could go wrong, at which time, I was told Oh no, you can have multiple things go wrong with air conditioning. I agreed to pay the additional $315 for the seals. Once again a week later the air goes out again. Now I am being told the compressor needs to be replaced, another $1200. And if that don;t cure it there is a line behind the dashboard, that will cost between $1500 and $2000 to fix. MY POINT, if the service MGR, would have educated me (the first time around about air conditioning failure), I would have never put that kind of monies into a car that is worth $3500 which I was told by Elmhurst Toyota was its value. Now the MGR tells me he explained everything the first time around, and the car was in a front end collision, which it never has been. Consumer Beware.

bad service dept + service manager
Two years ago I went to determine the cause for check engine light coming on. They give me the reason and charged me $100. I followed thru by going to Oak Brook Toyota dealers and they give me a different reason and once again I paid for the diag and got the issue resolved since most of the work was covered under warranty.

Then I go back to Elmhurst Toyota and ask for a refund because their diag contradicted what Oak Brook said. After showing all of the paper work to Brian Corrigan, he agreed to refund me my $100. Unfortunately for me, I never saw the $100 and just let it go not caring to waist any more of my time with them. So I figure I will only use Elmhurst Toyota for oil changes and will not have my car repaired because they do not seem to credible.

Today I go for an oil change with a coupon of 30 min or less or else oil change service is free. In summary,
a) they take an hour to get me out of there
b) the service manager indirectly calls me a liar saying that he heard the service work tell me up front that it will take 45 min at least; therefore refused to give me a refund of $26.
c) they skipped the courtesy car wash
d)

Now they have zero credibility in getting any work done. I didn’t really care for the $26 dollars but simply wanted to make a point that their service stinks and not all customers are suckers ...

Maybe it will benefit the dealership to send the service manager for some type of customer service/honesty classes.

Unhappy with service department
After buying and having my car serviced at Elmhurst Toyota for 5-years, I was amazed at what happened last Saturday. I cracked my driver's side mirror; not the casing or motor, just the mirror. I took it in to get replaced. Two hours later, they said it would have to be ordered and would cost $300.00. Since I had already spoken with AutoZone and knew the price of a replacement mirror ($38) I asked why $300? Oh, the casing is cracked I was told. So, I said Show Me. Fifteen minutes later, no crack and the mechanic says well, we crack 3 out of 4 replacement mirrors so we want you to pay $300 for the full assembly. No, I said, just the mirror. I was told (after I paid for additional repairs they found when they inspected my car without my permission) the part was ordered. I received an email (no phone call) late today from the service director Daniel Briggs. He wants me to pay $300 for the full assembly; they break 3 out of 4 upon install. And, if I don't and they break it during install, even though I would pay $50.00 for the install, they will not absorb the cost.

I'm speechless; to find this level of deceptive practice from a firm like this is so disappointing.
