2001 - a group of us booked into Elysium and when we arrived there they placed us in a different hotel (one without a pool but they ley us cross the road and use their pool).
2005 – I went out to Mykonos again and the 2 friends I was meeting there were again moved out of Elysium on arrival
2006 – My partner booked his 50th birthday party in Mykonos and arranged (against my advice!) for us all to stay at or near to Elysium, as well as a cocktail party at the Elysium. We were told that if we booked through a travel agent then we could be sure of not being kicked out. It was booked at the beginning of the year and a friend who was in Mykonos in June double checked that they had our booking in their reservations book. A week before we were due to arrive they moved the four of us who booked through a travel agent (Man Around) to another hotel way away from this hotel.
Having spoken to other people who have booked with the Elysium this happens all the time. The rumour is that the owner always over books and then just takes whoever are paying the higher rates and I have no reason to disbelieve this. Man Around have said that their action is unacceptable and they are not going to list them again (we’ll see!) but I’d warn anyone who does want to go to Mykonos do not risk staying at Elysium. There are other hotels which are a much better standard (some of our friends had booked a superior room but had to buy bleach and clean the mould off the bathroom!), not up a hill and honour their bookings. I really strongly advise anyone to avoid the Elysium hotel in Mykonos.
