E-MART CENTRAL IS SELLING COUNTERFEIT MERCHANDISE

I ordered two memory sticks from E-MART CENTRAL from their website. On the page where the sticks were advertised they were labeled as
"Product Code: 16GB-SONY-pro-HG-duo".
I, too, received my “SONY MEMORY STICKS” (They are labeled “SONY”) not in their original packaging. I inserted one into my Sony camera model DSC-HX1 and the camera immediately indicated that these would not function. I called SONY Corp and described my problem and gave them all the info printed on the sticks. They informed me that all SONY memory sticks come in “blister” type packaging which includes both warrantee and instruction manuals.
They told me the sticks were COUNTERFEIT.

I contacted E-MART CENTRAL immediately and informed them that I was returning the fake memory sticks and was instructing my credit card company to dispute the charges, as these were not genuine SONY products and did not function as advertised.

E-MART CENTRAL’s response was:

The item you ordered has not been advertised as a brand name (See the link): http://www.emartcentral.com/pro-hg. The equivalent sony product is much more expensive.

When I informed them that when directed to the page indicated by the link above (which is the same page the counterfeit memory sticks were ordered from) it states the item under product code:

"Product Code: 16GB-SONY-pro-HG-duo".

Their reply to that was:

The code you are referring to is for internal use ONLY and basically means the product is for use in SONY products. Otherwise, no where in the detailed section of this product the name SONY or any other name for that matter is mentioned.

If that is indeed the case that it is for internal use only, then why can the consumer see it and why is it not disclosed as not a SONY product?

I then asked them if they were not sold as Sony Memory Sticks then WHY WAS THE MERCHANDISE THEY SHIPPED TO ME MARKED WITH SONY CORPORATION LEGAL TRADEMARKS!

They then instructed me to:

Please return unused, re-saleable items along with a copy of this email reflecting all the
messages we exchanged in a proper mailer to the address below for a refund according to the “Store Policy” page of the site (http://www.emartcentral.com/store-policy.html)
Note returning low cost items for refund may not be cost effective.

My credit card company was able to obtain a refund for the purchase amount however, I am still being charged a restocking fee of $29.40 to return COUNTERFEIT MERCHANDISE!!! Obviously, they intend to RE-SELL THESE COUNTERFEIT ITEMS to some unsuspecting customer who has the misfortune of dealing with this
EXTREMELY UNETHICAL COMPANY.

All correspondence, copies of all emails, and photos of all items have been submitted to SONY CORPORATION LEGAL DEPARTMENT, THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION, and the UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE (It is a felony to commit FRAUD via the USPS).

If, in the future, I am allowed to divulge any further information about this case, I will try to update this comment after Sony Corp contacts me again...they have given this a investigative file number.

BOTTOM LINE - DON’T BUY FROM EMART CENTRAL - THEY WILL CHEAT YOU
