Does NOT work - sharpens claws
I purchased the Emery Cat at one of those stores that sells "As Seen on TV" products. I paid $19.95 for one. I thought I was ripping myself off because I could have gotten 2 for the same price online or by calling the number listed in the TV ad. I am SO glad I didn't make that mistake after reading these reviews. THANK YOU to all of you for providing this valuable information on this scam. Now MY complaint is that my cat has used the Emery Cat every day for over 3 months & her claws are sharper than ever! It does NOT work as an emery "board". I even tried clipping her claws to give it a fair shot but, they just came back sharper & sharper. OK so it keeps her from clawing the furniture however, it does NOT do what is claimed. I feel so bad that so many people got scammed on the cost of this product. I hope everyone files complaints to get this product OFF the market & punish those who are ripping off people.

emery cat is scam
don't buy it! It's poor quality and bad sales. It will overcharge you first, cannot cancel it, and even they will sale non slip base. It's awful company. Not only me, many people had same situation. Be careful

Customer Service
Add one more complaint for this company. I got scammed through their marketing ploy as several other people have mentioned. When I called their customer service number and actually got someone to talk to me, they were unable to find my order even though I got their e-mail order confirmation within minutes of placing the order that I didn't intend to do. The way their website is set up you place the order before you comfirm that the order is correct. There are no back buttons in order to change your order or correct any information regarding it. I was asked to call back in a couple of hours when my order should come up in their system. I asked several times to talk to a supervisor who could help find the order and was denied to do so. My call was forwarded to a voice mail machine where I left a detailed message that I was cancelling the order immediately and would refuse any charges to my Mastercard. I plan to call back in a couple of hours to see if they are willing to provide the customer service that I should have received earlier. I also plan to visit my bank and block/cancel payment to the company if they should try to claim a payment. I'm deeply offended by this company and its tactics to advertise their product deceitively and sell unwanted services and additional products to unwitting customers.

Cat developed Eye Problems
Not only does the Emery Cat not file down cats nails, the fine granules that come off when the cat scratches is harmful to your cat. I've had to take my cat into the vet for an swollen and inflamed inner eye lid. He's an indoor cat so the likelihood of him getting this condition is slim. While rubbing the Emery Cat, I noticed these fine sand granules rubbing off onto my finger...I'm sure this is what irritated my cat's eye. It's now in the trash bin!

Swindlers
Don't go online to buy this.
Swindle is the correct word for this company.
I went online to order an Emery Cat for $19.99 and ended up being charged $93.64.
When I called to cancel, they gave me the run around.
Don't go online to buy this. Wait until it comes to the stores.

false advertising
Well, what do you know I'm not alone. I, too, was charged S&H per board but you can't order any less than two! I ordered over the phone and was caught in a 20 minute loop that went something like this...How many would you like to order?...Are you sure?...Only during this phone call can you have yada yada yada... For each question you were instructed to push 1 for "no", 2 for "yes" or maybe it was the other way around. I stayed on the line for 20 minutes for fear I would either have no order at all or would inadvertently order enough Emery Boards for my cat's great-great-grandkittens! At no point could you speak to a person. There was a prerecorded voice after every "no" that went something like this...We're sorry you chose not to take advantage of...Just in case you misunderstood we're offering... and on and on getting more and more condescending as it went.
To my amazement, the order came as ordered but the shipping was wrong or so I thought. I called customer service (HA), and they insisted that both their loop and their commercial clearly state that S&H are $7.95 per board. Just not true unless its been changed or is in the fine print, which is still misleading.
Stop being so greedy by forcing customers to pay for two boards when you could just be honest and charge $9.99 a board and $7.95 for S&H. Afterall, at the time of ordering you don't even know if your cat will use the product. This company has really shot itself in the foot because word of mouth will effect future sales. Too bad.

s&H
On Friday March 25 I ordered the Emery Cat board and accidently hit a#ordered (2), when I got to the billing I realized what I had done and the s&h was $31 with a total order if over $90. I telephoned the company and was told they couldn't help me until Monday. So Monday I telephoned and spoke to a Todd and he informed me there was nothing I could do as the order had already been shipped by FEDEX and the only thing I could do is send it back when I receive it minus the shipping and handling, So if I send it back I am still out $31.

unethical practices
I have just spent the last 4 days trying to get out of a purchase my Mom made . Like every other complaint here, all she wanted was one cat board and ended up with a bill of $86.47. My emails were returned as not answered. When I phoned the "customer satisfaction" line they could not find my Mom's order ( surprised?) even though it had been 4 days she said the order had not yet arrived. My last shot was to call
AllStar 1-866-430-8155 and the lovely woman there cancelled my order in seconds. Lesson of the day, don't give up, keep phoning.
What goes around comes around, they are in deep kitty litter.

over charged and didn't get the two refill boards
I ordered the buy one ($19.95) get the second for S&H of $7.95. I also order the two replacement pads for $9.95 + $7.95 S&H. They charged my card $45.95 and I have not received the replacement pads. This company should have to answer to their bad business practices. I'm going to the BBB website next!
