Emirates Airline Reviews

DR. REZA JAHADI November 4, 2010
non disclosure of the rules
I purchased a round trip ticket for my wife to travel from San airport to IKA in Tehran. Departure date was Sept. 20th and expected return was Nov. 8th.

When I printed the ticket, there was a disclosure about paying some $250 for change of the date. There was no disclosure about the ticket expiring in 2 months.

Now that my wife is in Tehran, an emergency sitution has risen, where she has to postpond her return by two weeks. She has gone to local Emirates office and was told that she is going to loose her ticket because of date restriction on the ticket.

I called the 800 number listed above and inquired about this. They are telling me that there was a fine print on the ticket about restricting it to two months. I tried to retrieve my reservation to see if they are right, but could not find anywhere about this disclosure.

If I knew about this time limitation, and I was given a choice to purchase a 6 month or a year termination option with a little more money, I would have most likely have opted for those options.

Most of the airlines that I know has a year limitation on the ticket expiration and they all have some penalties for change. But have never heard that tickets could expire in 2 months.

I seriously want to fault emirates for not letting their customer know about their rules, and should have put it on big print if there is such a rule, so the customer would have a better choice for selection.

We would be willing to pay the $250 penalty to change the ticket return by 2 to 3 weeks.

Hope and expect the resolution of this compaints by emirates, should they be interested to keep their customers better informed and not to eliminate their chances, especially when the ticket is purchased on line.

Duely, expect an answer soon.

Stolen items from check-in baggage
On an international flight from Dhaka, Bangladesh to New York, NY, several items totalling $1431.00 were stolen from my check-in baggage. Emirates Airlines sent me on a wild goose chase trying to recieve payment for my stolen goods. To this day, they deny any responsibility for my claim and state that I did not follow the appropriate guidelines for filing a complaint. In reality, they sent me from hotline to hotline (aka: a number that is never picked up and leads you directly to a voicemail box. You can leave a message, but understand they will never return your call). I am not the only individual whom they have done this to.

lost baggage
Dear Sir

I lost my baggage and got it back.
However, someone opened my baggage and took some items.
And I reported it to your staff(Mr.Hamza) in Dammam airport.

He said 1month ago the items are in Dubai airport.
I have tried to call Mr. Hamza 100 times this week.

It is obvious that he is avoiding my call.
I checked the baggage service center next to Hamza’s office.
They said Mr.Hamza was in the office.
But nobody took my phone.

I need to get my fucking I POD back.

Your company service is worst in the world!!!

Return my fucking I POD!!!

I will put all conversations with Mr.Hamza in YOUTUBE!!!

Lost Luggage
I'm an unfortunate gold member of Emirates Airline who lost his luggage during a flight EK362 from Dubai to Guangzhou. I was on a business trip and all the important files and docuemnts were in luggage.
to my horror i was not able to find it on the belt and when complaint in the Missing Luggage counter, the attitude was ridiculous. They have given me a form and later given me track number CANEK12571... and that's it.
I've been following them since then (i.e 5 days) and the response is simple "'We are unable to find your bag, and we can't do anything, wait for few days". These...idiots can't even understand and realize that how important these trips are and what a huge loss i've to bear because of their negligence.

This has been a very bad experience for my family, never to be forgotten
I found no way of providing a feedback to Emirates Airlines. This is the only way I thought I can share my thoughts about it.

Along with my family I recently went to India by Emirates Airlines - Houston to Mumbai via Dubai. While boarding from Houston, our cabin bags were taken away saying that there was no space (which we later found, was there). We were not even given any time to take our important stuff to keep with us. Upon asking we were told, that our bags will be given back in Dubai. However when we reached Dubai, we found out that we had to clear immigration to get our cabin bags, which was not possible. And were asked to transfer those bags to our final destination. We had all our next boarding passes and important papers and things in those bags. Since we had no other choice we had to make a request for the bags to be sent to our final destination.

We got our bags 7 day after we reached. Not only that, the seal was broken and some of the goods stolen!!

What I dont get is, why were we not told about the immigration clearance required just to pick our cabin bags. Its not like we didnt ask. After a lot of requesting we were told that we will get our cabin bags without any problem? If the airline crew itself dont know any thing, what are we supposed to do? Its not the money but the memories we lost from the goods that were stolen. All we want is that the culprit should be caught!! If the internal airline members do such a thing can we really trust them ????

This has been a very bad experience for my family, never to be forgotten!!

Off Loaded
We were offloaded in Dubai on our onward flight from DXB to CMB despite having confirmed tickets on 7th July 2010. We had confirmed reservations to fly out of DXB on July 7th on EK 0348. (REF CODE: ITCCKB)

They ground crew did not give us any information until close to 8:00am although we were at the check out counter close to 5:30am!! We we were given baggage claim tags and then told to come back at 6:00am. At which time, we were given the utter round around with ZERO communication on why we were getting delayed or why we were offloaded. Two female Counter employees of EK were so loud about "THE AIRLINE HAS A RIGHT TO OVERBOOK" which in my understanding of IATA rules is not the case.

As a result of this rude treatment, I missed attending my Brother's 50th birthday party which was the main reason to be in CMB on 7th and we were on such a limited time frame.

Now after we were unceremoniously offloaded and finally when there was an EK employee who knew how to speak to paying customers, we did get fair treatment as required by IATA with hotel and vouchers.

However, we were not even put on the 9:45am flight while there appeared to be a bit of deferment to white passengers as well who were accommodated while we were there before them in the queue at 5:15am. They got into the 9:45am flight but we did not.

It is my sad observation that the local EK airline counter staff were chaotic and indifferent compared to all other airports we have traveled. Two of them in A 56 to A 60 counters had the audacity to say "Airlines have a right to overbook" in their rather rude treatment of passengers of many nationalities including American such as our 3 and Sri-Lankans. The entire process was handled very poorly and unprofessionally. This is in DIRECT CONTRAST TO THE EXCELLENT on-board inflight service which was the best in the world. WE love traveling and visiting Dubai and in fact had 4 excellent days.

This poorly handled offloading incident was the only ugly point in our visit to Dubai. I will be ccing this message to HRH the Ruler of Dubai because I feel the local ground staff seem to have an attitude towards Asian passengers which reflects poorly on Dubai and Emirates Airline both vying for world class attention as top tourist destinations and the top airline in the world.

We were revenue generating passengers who were entitled to better information and more professional service even if we were offloaded.

The inflight service on EK on all segments were EXCELLENT and better than even SQ which has been the global standard for inflight service.

I am also ccing this to Captain Suren Ratwatte, Senior A-380 Captain of EK.

Engine failure
My wife and i arrived at Durban airport on the 11th June 2010 in order to take our flight to Seoul. After checking in we proceeded through the normal formalities and made our way to the relevant gate for boarding. Thats where it started. We waited in a queue for over an hour only to find out that there was a delay for some unknown reason. after a while, we finally boarded the aircraft.

Everything went as per normal. We took off and all seemed fine up until the cabin lights suddenly dimmed and there was an immediate loss of altitude, feeling as if the plane was falling! a few seconds later, it felt as if it was corrected, but not 100% this all occurred approximately 35minuts into the flight. The Captain eventually announced that the one engine had FAILED and we had to turn back to Durban. After a further stressful 30 minutes we finally landed back in Durban. The landing was totally horrendous we bounced off the runway TWICE, probably due to the fact there was engine problems. None the less, we were safe, but my wife was traumatised! All through this time no one offered us water, the airport was total chaos, the airline denying engine failure, just saying all of this was a technicality. Other passengers were stuck with no water waiting an hour and a half with us to go through passport control. We were told to go home, we would recieve a call the next day. We spent R950 on a taxi home, which was another hour and a half. No one helped us even after we tried communicating several times with staff. The following day no one called and by the afternoon we were so stressed we called and made arrangements ourselves.

Totally digusted would like someone to see my perspective, and how would we be re-imbursed?
