Seats and Baggage
My wife and I traveled business from Chennai to SFO and back. Right through they made us literally beg for two seats together. Highly insensitive seating arrangement. Also they lost my bag on arrival at Chennai. Very impersonal service and very customer unfriendly. I hold the highest tier in loyalty in two other airline and despite being silver in it did not see anything tangible.

Refused Boarding
I was travelling from dubai to Spain, business class on EK 141, with my British Overseas Citizen Passport. The official Spanish foreign ministry website states i do not need a visa. I had also travelled to Germany on EK 4 months ago without any visa. However this time after checking in my bags and having been issued a boarding pass, i was denied boarding at the gate by an Emirates Employee, who stated according to their information british Overseas citizens require a visa.
I was offloaded, my baggage returned after 3 hours and they refused to give me my chauffer ride back to Abudhabi. The next day i took a Lufthansa airline flight from Abudhabi- Frankfurt- madrid, without any hiccups and returned home.
I also ended up paying around $100 for the taxi ride back to Abudhabi.
My question is:
1. Does EK have the right to offload me at the gate, when i had already been checked in by their staff and issued a Boarding Pass. As far as i remeber this is against IATA rules. Am i right.
2. Is EK going to reimburse me the taxi cost back to Abudhabi.
3. Is EK or Lufthansa right in their visa policies to Europe. I have always been to europe without a visa and i would have to go with the European airline on this one. EK may have to update their information systems on visa rule.
4. Will EK refund me the cost of hotel and conference fees that i lost.

many
1. Flew from Detroit to Dubai on 1/29/11 . The boarding tickets for the flight from New York to Dubai was issued at Detroit. However, on reaching JFK, we were told to have the boarding cards issued again. When we requested to have an expedited processing due to our "mentally challenged" son, the agent quipped: "we do not care about it" - a display of arrogance as none other. We had to approach the supervisor who helped us.
2. Our seats were next to the lavatory on the flight (EK 202 - AIRBUS A380-800), whose door did not shut fully. When I suggested to put a note on the door requesting the passengers to pull it to close, I was told that this cannot be done. However, they would give me some perfume to use so that we do not smell the bad odor. Hope they have fixed it by now.
3. On the Emirates flight EK 546 0n Feb 3, 2011 to Chennai from Dubai, the cabin ran out of vegetarian food which we had ordered at the time of booking. When I asked the question, "how can the count can be so wrong"., the flight attendant became offensive. I went without food for that leg.
4. Two lavatories were not in working order (they were actually shut closed, before the actual flight took off for Chennai)- after all it was a flight to Chennai and the passengers are Indians and they can somehow manage. When the flight landed in Chennai, everyone got up while the plane was taxiing to the gate. A major accident could have occurred then - no flight attendant made any move to have all the passengers seated until the plane came to a stop.
5. The flight attendants treated the Indians not that well although the airlines make a lot of money from Indian passengers.
6. On the flight (EK 547) to Dubai from Chennai, the PA announcer proudly announced the languages spoken by the cabin crew. There were so many, but Tamil was missing, although most of the passengers on the flight were Tamilians. Emirates are only interested in the money of Tamilians but not interested in providing them assistance in their own language. What a display of arrogance?
6. The leg room on the return flight on 04 mar 2011 (EK 203 - Boeing 777 - 300 ER) to JFK from Dubai was not sufficient for a flight of 14 hours duration. The service was so poor. Although the instruction video on the flight suggests the passengers to drink a lot of water, the flight attendants did not serve enough water at all. Except while serving food, they were almost missing from action.
I have traveled for the last time on Emirates. The arrogance of the ground staff and the poor service in the plane need to have been experienced to be believed. I am not sure how Emirates got such a high rating.

AIRLINES REFUSES TO REFUND
I bought a Return Ticket online to fly from Los Angeles to Dubai and then to Islamabad and back. I paid $1309 using my AMEX card. I was supposed to fly on 11/24/10. I had a Heart Procedure (Angiogram) done on 11/16/10 at the Kaiser Hospital in LA, CA. Doctors told me NOT to fly at all. I was released from the Hospital on 11/17/10 and I cancelled my Flights right away. I asked Emirates Airlines for the Refund. The airlines promised to refund my fare within 2 weeks. It has been now three (3) months and the Customer Service Dept of the Emirates Airlines in New York, NY, is still giving me a runaround. They have refused to refund even though I have asked them repeatedly. How can an Airline do such a fraud while operating in USA? Is there any authority to check these attrocities of these foreign airlines?

I need help in this regard, please. Thank you.

Bad customer service
Emirates airlines India sector is a total disappointment. I travelled tO Bengaluru on the 3rd Jan 2011 from Dubai and returned on the 7th of Jan 2011 on EK 566/567. The inflight service was a disaster with the Airlines underestimating the number of Non Vegetarian meals on the flight. I sat in the middle row of the aircraft and by the time my turn came, they had run out of non vegetarian meals and offered me vegetarian meals. This happened on both trips to and from Bengaluru. This is not a coincidence and is shear evidence of Emirates airlines indifferences to passengers travelling to the Indian sector. Passengers travelling to the INdian subcontinent are generally treated indifferently and are given a callous atitutude both by the airlines management and the staff. This is my third bad experience with Emirates airlines and am seriously considering to change my flight and opt for flights that offer value for money and have good customer service. I encourage all passengers not to compromise on your requirements while flying Emirates airlines by ensuring that you stand up for your case and put up complaints across all Airlines rating boards. Get your money's worth by travelling in alternative flights that offer better customer service. Dont go by the brand name as clearly you will see the exploitation inflight!

freezing plane, no comfort, poor service
The EK97 Emirates flight from Dubai to Roma Fiumicino of the 6th of January 2011 was the worst I've ever had in all my life.
Also in the other Emirates flights I took for my trip to India the on board temperature was very low, but on that flight, it was completely freezing. I had to cover myself with everything I had, and spent the 6 hours flight with two shirts, a wooden hoodie with the hood on, my winter jacket, a scarf and the company blanket on. I couldn't rest at all, and at the end of the flight I had no voice and a severe throat ache.
On board crew was kind but ineffective, and I never got the supplementary blanket I asked for.
So, I spent a lot of money going to Kerala to heal my body and mind with auyrvedic treatment, and lost every benefit I could have got in the backward flight to Rome...

plane 777.300
NEVER fly on an Emirates flight that uses the 777.300 plane. the seats are the most uncomfortable I have ever encountered and they used this plane in the gruelling 14 plus hour flight from Melbourne to Dubai. The seat is so deep that the pressure under ones's thighs is unbearable and is a sure cause of blood clots. I am complaining her because NOWHERE on the Emirates website is there any place for a complaint..this is preposterous. I will never fly on one of these ancient planes again and I urge you to avoid them also

Airline employees causing delay and stopping me from catching my plane.
I arrived at 7:30 a.m. to Dubai International Airport, terminal 3 hoping to have a smooth journey to Housten, US. When I approached to a check-in counter to weigh my luggage they said my luggage was over-weight and directed me to another counter asking me to wait for some time. After a while, Mr. Lal Vargese (Not sure of the name though), the supervisor of all check-in counter employees came requesting me to give up my seat to another customer offering a free ticket for the next day and an over-night hotel stay. I refused for come commitment and scheduling back in the United States, and he responded by making me wait even longer. By 8:40, they called me and made me pay for the extra weight and gave me a boarding pass with a Business Class seat. I was then directed to the passport control which took me an hour, by the time i reached my gate i was informed that i was late as the gate just closed. Though the plane hasn't departed I was stopped and not allowed to travel.
It's the supervisor who wasted an hour of my time causing me to lose my flight forcing me to re-schedule all my planned meetings back home in the US.
I would also like to add the fact that this ticket was booked ten days in advance and this is unacceptable.
My experience at the airport wasn't pleasing, it caused anxiety and annoyance. I also lost a working day.
I request a full refund of my round-trip ticket from Housten to Dubai to compensate to the inconvenience that occured.
Attached to the complaint is a copy of the complaint I submitted to Dubai Police about this inconvenience.
