Technology
Went to my theory class with my laptop today, under doctor advisement. My doctor recommended I take my notes by typing or recording the theory seminar. I was told to put both away because they both fell under the "electronics" section of my student agreement. Typically, this section is brought up for cell phones. I was under the impression that Empire provided a "state of the art" education and believe laptops to be included in that section. Especially with a doctor's note. I reluctantly went back to my car and locked up my equipment so it would not be stolen. Of course, the problem my doctor was attempting to eliminate has flared.

WTH! I want My education
November 8, 2010
Poor academic service
I attended north Phoenix empire for one month and then found out that Empire had a school in Prescott Az. I wanted to attend the prescott School so I thought I would Transfer (wrong). I was told I would have to withdraw (this was in July, something to do with the financial aid) and reenroll. I've had nothing but problems, I get the run around, my calls are not returned, I was told I could not enroll in the next enrollment date that I would have to wait till November. It's November and I still can't get someone to return my calls. But they have no problem sending me bills, go figure.

Used and abused by Empire Beauty School
November 7, 2010
Scam/ripoff
I attended Empire Beauty School in 2010. When I first contacted them about going to school their they treated me with royalty, until after I enrolled and they got my money then everything changed. I was used and abused their. They did many wrongdoing their, threatening me telling me not to tell ANYONE about what happened. Now I am seeing an attorney to fight for me and hopefully transfer to a different cosmetology school. The so called education they promised me was nothing short than a huge scam. I've also witness students cutting clients and making them bleed, students being rebellious and cutting someone's hair the wrong way, and they don't tell the client they did it. They just do their best to conceal it and hope that the client won't notice, which they of course usually don't, because they're not cosmetologists. I have also witnessed our school being vandalized by students, and of course we were instructed to clean it up immediately so the clients did not see. The staff are awful once they get your money they treat you like crap. I also found out many of their students are failing state boards.

Time Clocks
On June 3rd, 2010, my friend and I were told to pass out business cards until we came back with a client. We had did that for about 5 minutes, stoped at Pardise to grab a bite so that took us about 10 minutes. Our attendence coordinator came in and asked us if we were going to school and I said we will. My friend and I went back out to pass out more business cards and came back to school with clients. We could'nt perform on our clients because our attendence coordinator said we didnt clock out for that time we sat and ate. She said we were stealing hours and we weren't even out for 1 hour. She also told us that we could be getting kicked out off school. They could just take way 30 mins from the 4 hours I attend or just suspend us, not kick us out for good. We're in 360 at that. My friend and I didnt even really get a chance to talk about with our attendence coordinator because she was in a rush to go home, no emergency. Instead of students worrying about a hair style, we have to worry about what rule they going to change. Its so much stuff going, an employee walked out the other because of this school nonesence. I feel the school is a scam.

Service
I just went through a horrible experience with them. I understand that they are students, but the reason I went to this girl is because she is graduating in one week. I asked for highlights and she told that I needed to dye my hair first so she dyed it and my hair come out orange. After that she said well we will put highlights and make it better so she did that and my hair was completely orange/yellow. She than put a toner in my hair which made no difference. She told me that it was because they did not wash my hair right after the first dye so it made my hair get orange and there was nothing they could do. I went home and spent even more money on 2 boxes of hair dye which is making my hair so dry from all the dye and my hair is still horrible. I am going to have to go again today and spend more money on 2 more boxes of dye. I have spent so much money for no results. This is ridiculous. LIke I said I understand that they are students, but why put them to work on real people if they don't know how. What makes it worst is that the teacher told her what to do with my hair so she is a teacher and doesn't know what she is doing. I told them what I wanted and they did the opposite. I never told them I wanted blonde hair and now my hair is white. I will never ever go back to them. I wish they would pay me for all the money I just spend and for the pain they have caused me. I am so mad and I will tell everyone about this.

Hanover, Pa (what an absolute pathetic joke)
I just want to start by saying that The Hanover campus of Empire Beauty School is an absolute pathetic joke.
I am not gonna worry about discussing things that are in the hands of Empire corporate here, because it is just way to many. I am however gonna discuss problems associated with this campus and are within their control to fix.
First, there is so much down time for students, that time becomes so boring, that students have no choice but to sit and do nothing, or roam around from class to class and disrupt and bother the students who are trying to learn. And when you do have a problem, you can never find a teacher to help you, because they are either on the phone, or cant be found themselves.
Someone at this school has implemented 2 new programs, one is a maagers position, and one is an embassadors program. The students are completely out of control and run this campus. The school director is completely afraid to assert her authority and make students and teachers due their jobs. When confronted, you always get the same answer, I am aware of it, or its being handled. Problem is, nothing is ever done about it, and students know this. So, my point if students wont listen to the director, or the teacher, as experienced, they wont listen to me, and as manager I as a student have no one to back me up, so what is the point. You cant expect the students to listen when you are directed by someone who doesnt listen themselves.
The Embassador program is a complete joke. I have to set at the front door for a week and open and close the door for customers. I didnt pay to come to this school to open doors, I want to learn to cut hair, and am barely doing that with the lack of instruction. If the customers coming in for services dont know how to open a door and get in then they can just sit outside and beat on the door until someone lets them in.
The director and the teachers consistently change the rules and policies to suit there needs. You are told you cant do certain things today, and then next week when it suits them you are told its ok. Thats BS. We have meetings at the end of certain days where we go over the same ole crap day in and day out, and nothing is ever done about it anyway.
Students are allowed to leave the premises to do so called research at area salons and stay clocked in, yet goto the mall, to the movies out to eat and so on. They come back and no one verifies paperwork or where they have been. Students should be told to do this on their time.
The rules and policies set forth in the handbook are no where enforced or recognized. Dress code is absolutely appalling in many instances, clients have left feeling uncomfortable, with things they have seen that shouldnt be. Lost a client due to the negligence and ignorance of a teacher.
Teachers talk to us and treat us as if we were 5 years old, and some talk down to us and treat us like out right dirt. Teachers have students do their work, including paperwork just to keep them busy. I, m here to learn, not due their job.
There are many, many other problems with this school that are completely within their control. Many students who are trult here to learn have complained to teachers and the director and it always falls on deaf ears, or is swept under the rug. Will be soon time for a new rug, this ones getting full.

This school should be shut down
If you are smart you will not attend this school. From the door the school recruiter lies to you. Then you get to school and they give you the cheesiest supplies that break within weeks to a month of you using them.
You never know what director or teacher is leaving but trust me they leave faster then the students do. Every time you get a good teacher she is gone...go figure!
Financial aide is a joke...you will get a letter in the mail that you graduated when you didn't and need to repay your loan. Then you have a graduation date and then you don't...because the administartion can't keep good records...but its the students fault. I shouldn't have to be a student and do their job too!
The best is when they reward someone for perfect attendance who was on probation and had no choice but to be there or else get kicked out! or the student who is beligerant and rude to teachers and students on a daily basis but he is recognized in the student paper for having a great attitude!...tell me the school is not a joke now.
They are to teach you and get you ready for the industry but honestly I feel all Im qualified to be is an empire teacher...that doesn't say much for what I have learned.
If you expect them to care about your education or help you find a job...ha ha ha that is the biggest joke of all...they haven't found one student a job!
They are too busy sitting in their offices taking calls and telling you they are too busy for you or flirting with each other...One admistrator was on a sex website looking for a woman...he was also the same admistrator who handed out free passes to a strip club when you joined Empire...the best is he gets fired and they tell us he has moved on in the company...LIES!!!
Most of the students that are there have to be because of welfare or criminal act...they get money for going to school yet they sit in class disrupting it and blame the teacher for their ignorance.
Oh and don't complain because it will do no good...no one cares all the way too the top!!!
I suggest you THINK TWO AND THREE TIMES before you choose this school!

Hanover, Pa (does it again)
Once again the intelligence of the staff at this institution shines thru. NOT !!!
Another high five for the instructional team and director of the Hanover, Pa campus for instituting yet another totally useless and rediculous program into their already lacking curriculum. Most recently implemented is the embassador position in which each student takes a week and sits by the front doors and learns the newwest and most innovative ways to open and close the entrance doors for empire clients as well as the classic art and science of coat checking.
Whats next? Valet parking.
In a school where curriculum, instruction, and direction is already severely missing and lacking, it is simply amazing to me that students actually pay to go to this instituition to learn about cosmetology and spend much of their time doing nothing at all in this field, and spend countless hours wasting time and money on learning and doing things that any normal idiot already knows and does on a daily basis.
If this is an example of Empire getting its students ready for the real world after they graduate, please remind me to ask my next stylist as to where he/she graduated from.
No thanks, I'll pass

poor education service
I must say that EMPIRE is one school that needs to be shut down & all funds should be refunded to every one that have attended. I can not express my disappointment more or enough with the school. I wish I would had drop out before completing the course and having to pay back the cost of attending. I have nothing positive to say about the school in general. From the 1st day of class until the last day attending. I had complian to every director that came into leadership at the school, about how poorly the education was presented. Some of the teachers were great, but when you are in class with very disruptive people that dont seem to follow rules and the are not enforced, it makes learning very difficult. Then on the other hand some of the teachers did not know if they were coming or going, they were so boring or wasnt teaching anything new, our attention were lost, we were get into doing other things and not paying attention to what should had been going on. the bottom line the education was being presented to us in a paper bag, when it was sold to us as if it was going to be served on a gold plater. All I can say to any one that is nearly interested in attending a beauty school and your are serious about the hair industy, EMPIRE I S NOT THE ONE FOR YOU. the school is nothing more than a DREAM KILLER!!!
YOU CAN LOOSE ALL INTEREST ATTENDING EMPIRE
The lies that were told on a regular, and all of the changes that were done to cater the excutive director needs to make her look good in numbers is extremely selfish and curel. Not once did she do anything for the students, half of the time she walk around with her nose in the air, AND did not speak, she was extremely rude to anyone that she felt was below her that include both teaches and students. Not professional at all.
The daily curriculum was nothing compare to what I was told that was going to be taught, I barely learn the stateboard hair cut, even after I had move up to being a senior I would still on a regular basis sit in other classrooms just to get knowlege on information that my own teacher did not teach. However the revoling door of teachers coming and going may had played a part in the lack of education provided.
We also had to deal with the poor additudes of the teachers of having to deal with the rudness of the director, or being pulled out of class to attend a 2 to the 3 hour long meeting that did nothing to make the education process any better for us. (just more rules or changes at the moment to help the directior look good as if everything was in order)
There was extremely way too much time wasted, the planning of the days lesson was poorly sought out, there was never enough of anything to do. Half of the time there was no products for us to work with and not enough cleints available for us to get livehands on practice . The school had no intention of getting or attempting to bring in people for service. This cause a great deal of being bored which lead to students leaving or just simply handing out in the break room or out side.
It maynot had been as bad if the teachers hire were professional had the skills to teach. None of them even had a specialty to share. So if you have both the students and teachers with no motivation to teach or learn you are not going to get anywhere but wasted time and a huge bill to pay for nothing
There so much negative that I can poitn out, the bottom line, Empire is not a school to attend if you are serious about being in the hair industry.

LIES
I WOULD NEVER RECOMMOND EMPIRE TO ANY ONE.
I attended Empire Beauty School in 2008, I was 100% NOT satisfied!!! I was told EBS was the best school to attend for cometology education. This education you would not find anywhere. These were all LIES. I was promise that I would be fully certifed in the bussiness field of salon owner ship, a nail tech, barbering, as well as advance studies in cutting, coloring and styling. Even though these were promise by the enrollment reps, none of the course made us to be certified in anything. The educational course were awful, the class room work was all over the place, there was no way you can learn what was presented if its handed to you by someone that lacks in experience.
There was always drama with students, teachers and the director. I went thru 6 teaches while attending EBS, 5 of those teachers were in my senior yr. Everyone came with a different ways of teachering, so I dealt with a lot of "NO THAT WAS TAUGHT WRONG" These were the techniques required to perform at stateboard, from the cut to the proper way to apply a relaxer or color.
My question is why was it so hard to keep teachers there, some of them even went as far to say, they were not happy with the lack of education, or support from the director, as if to say, her main concern was about #, how many students could she get in the door & enroll under false contents.
Even corporate gave us false hopes of changes would be made. We even went as far to hold a protest in the parking lot to display our anger and unhappiness with the school, WE WERE NOT LEARNING ANYTHING.
The school was more focus on getting students in, instead of getting teachers in that were qualified for the job, or clinets in for us to work on.
The school lacked a great deal in being professional and having solid structure. Rules were broken on a regular basis without any type of punishment, this is suppose to be a school, better yet a college base course.
The school is not worth the $20K they are charging. The kits that are put together requires a lot more of supplies. They advise that we would still have to purchase more supplies once we moved up to work on the flloor. The only good thing I left EBS with are my text books and some wonderful friends.
Even the cost of the state board exam could have or should be included
in the cost.
what they should be concern with is
1The number of students that drop out
2 The number of teaches that quit
3 The number of students with poor attendance
4 The number of student that show up for the day but would leave before the day was over
5 The low morale
6 Unhappiness of the student with the program
7 low test scores
8 Students not being prepare to take on a client
9 Lack of teachers on the floor to assits with servicing of clients
