Bad Carpet quality
I am so disspointed with Empire and will never use them again or recommended anyone. We got terrible cheap berber carpet. We had berber carpet for 16 years previouisly, the same one and never had any problems. The only reason I changed was because I thought it was time and I had a water stain. The first day after the installers left, they snagged my new berber carpet and I had to wait a week before an installer could come and look at it and try to repair it and he even suggested they replace the whole carpet as it was noticeable and I had to wait another week and a 1/2 before an installer came and decided it wasn't a manufacturer's defect - the installers snagged the carpet as we were not even home!! To no avail, the day after the inspector left, I noticed a long black mark in the carpet - it turned out that the carpet seam split and it is so obvious!! Yesterday two more snags occured in the carpet and I am not going to carry super glue with me everytime I walk on the carpet. Very dissapointed.

services not as promised
Salesman came to our home. Sold the product to us. When they came to install it was not as promised. When we questioned it they said the salesman was an independent contractor and it was not their problem he has misrepresented the carpet. They left with our old carpet torn out and tack strips on the floor. We had to hire another company at a must higher price and wait for carpet to come in. Filed a complaint with the better business bureau but nothing was done. We did discover that they advertise locally but are not even a based in Kansas City.

Target elderly
They (Empire) targets the elderly... sent a slick salesman/thug out to see my 85 yr. old mother, started installation the same day, didn't install what she ordered, charged twice as much as verbal estimate, carpeted over heat ducts and around heavy furniture. When busted they adjusted the price by 50% but within a few months began another (futile) collection attempt. They should have their mothers treated the same way, see how THEY like it.

No-show twice
Hire anybody else but Empire Carpet! The Empire Carpet rep pulled a no-show one Saturday. I'd blocked out the three-hour window, and called 20 minutes after the window closed. The customer service person placed me on hold for five minutes, then I was disconnected. I called back. This time the customer service person placed a call to both the sales rep and his manager. Neither picked up. After making an appointment with a competitor, I called back Empire to officially complain about that sales rep, and asked to speak to the manager. The manager would not get on the phone. Luckily the customer service operator was able to take the complaint and also told me that I'd get a $50 credit towards purchase. We rescheduled an appointment for the estimate. Guess what? Another no-show.

This company is a scam!
This company is a scam they do not show up for appointments and the installers are not professionals! Be careful! be really careful! also be careful of their sales antics they will start with over pricing and then tell you that we can save you money if you buy today. little do you know you eventually accept all the discounts and end up with a market value price you can get anywhere. the company is a scam!!! I feel sorry for the customer that accepts the first offer. Way over priced. God forbid you need a service call, you will wait months before anyone calls you back.

carpet install
The last company you want to do business with is Empire Carpet. They are misleading, unaccommodating, too expensive and have no costumer service. Buyer beware!

No show for estimate appointment
I scheduled an in home estimate with Empire Carpets. They were supposed to arrive between 7-9pm. At about 8:15pm I decided to call them to see if they knew when they would arrive. They told me that my ticket was never picked up and no one was coming. I asked how this could happen and she said it happens and asked if I would like to reschedule. I said NO! These are not the kind of professionals I want installing my flooring.

Horrible service!
An Empire Carpet Rep came to my house to give me a "free estimate with no obligation." By the end of the visit I was shaking because this guy was so rude and so creepy. I could not get him to leave. He was insisting that I sign a form stating that I could cancel within three days. The price was outrageous. Do not bother with these people!

Unreliable & Unprofessional
Empire Carpet is completely unreliable. I scheduled an in home visit for measurements and the salesman never showed up. After speaking with him he said he apologized and saidd he would come whenever it was convenient for me, so I scheduled another apointment. Again, he did not show up. I had to call him and again he said he'd come whenever I wanted - needless to say I did not schedule another apointment. I would not trust the company.

Switch and bait!
When I decided to get laminate flooring from empire carpet in 2003, three different salesmen from that company came to my home and gave me three different prices on the same living room floor for the same product. I ended up having to hire an attorney for over $2,500.00, which I'm still paying off the loan for the attorney, and I ended up having to still pay the switch and bait price for the laminate floor even though the attorney charged Empire carpet with 21 counts of not being fair. The floor was supposed to cost me $1100.00. The final charge was $2600.00. I ended up paying $1300.00, plus the attorney fees.
They attorney didn't want to pursue the case and the case was dismissed. The attorney told me I had won my case, but I felt like I 'd gotten the bad end of the stick, because three different salesmen from Empire carpet came into my home and lied to me about the price of the job for the lainmate floor.
Because of Empire carpet, I'll Never trust salesmen in my home, ever AGAIN. Empire carpet has no RESPECT for the consumers or WOMEN that are head of their household. Thank you Empire carpet for teaching me never to trust home products salesmen in my home ever again.
