Empire Carpeting Reviews

Inferior Product
I would never, ever purchase carpeting from Empire. I purchased my carpeting five years ago and has not worn well. The quality is inferior. I called the office in New Jersey to complain after one year, and never received a call back. This is my mistake. You have to keep on top of these companies and be a nuisance until they rectify the situation. Once your carpeting is installed and your money is received, you may as well go pound sand. The salesman was more interested in phoning in the order to meet the deadline for his commission for the week. He was rushing me to make a decision and I should have told him to leave. I have learned my lesson. Although I was not raised to not to be polite, this is one instance in which I should not have been.

No-show - No Call
Friday, April 29, 2011, I took a day off work as Empire was supposed to lay outdoor carpeting on my outdoor porches. Each porch is covered. It had rained the previous day. The porch was dry except on one small overhang. It was damp. So they said they would be back between 5 and 6 o'clock. Well at 7:20 I called the installer. He said he was still planning to come and would be their in one hour. Never showed. Saturday a.m., I called Empire. A beautiful sunny day. They said they would have someone call me and install it that day. Again, no call, no SHOW. Monday a.m., I called Empire again. Asked for a manager, they stated they could not do that as they had to call the area in which I lived and just leave messages, but they guaranteed that someone would call me. Again, no call, no SHOW!. It is now Wednesday. I called at 5:30 p.m. (after work) and was told again that someone would call me tomorrow as they closed at 5:00 p.m. I bet it will again be no call, no SHOW. I will never refer this company to anyone.

False Advertising
Their advertisements on TV keep stating buy one room get two free of either carpeting or flooring or mix and match. She came very late chose laminate floor measured two rooms and two hallways Approx. sq. ft. in largest room 210. Quote was $6, 080.00 for this room no free rooms here.

Substandard Carpeting
I so wish I would have checked Empire Carpeting on the Internet before I had them install our carpeting. I assumed since they have been around a long time they must be a reputable company with a good product. Absolutely not.

It sounds like my husband and I are having some of the same issues so many others have had. Our carpet was installed about a year and one-half ago and it looks terrible. I noticed after about less than a year after our carpet was installed it started to look worn out. Our representative assured us it would wear very well (not). I picked out a carpet that looked textured - because of the twisted fibers the representative said. It looked beautiful when it was first installed but in about six months the well-traveled areas started to look dull and flat and a different color than the areas that weren't well traveled. Also, our vacuum cleaner bags were just full of carpet fuzz the first three or months we had the carpet. Our representative told us this would happen and not to worry about it - that should have been my first clue to run away from Empire Carpeting.

Anyway, I decided to call Empire after about a year because so many areas were looking bad. They told me they would send somebody to check into it. When their representative came to look at the carpet I showed him how worn out some areas were. He took pictures which didn't really show much and said somebody would get back to me. We got a letter from Empire about a week later saying they wouldn't do anything about it and it was just a result of the fibers becoming untwisted. WHAT??? And that's supposed to happen? They should have told me that when I ordered the carpeting - I wouldn't have ordered it. Now I'm stuck with ugly carpeting (after spending $3, 000) that I'm going to have to replace because it looks crummy in so many places. Why are companies like Empire allowed to continue operating when they sell a substandard product and won't do anyting about it? Just another case of a big company screwing the consumer.

damage done to my living room hallway and cherry end and coffee table
On the morning of my instillation, I was never called first off, when the two non english speaking men came into my home they called my credit card into the office but did not mark the imprint on their paperwork therefore I was charged twice, that took almost a week to correct, they did damage to my walls after we had recently painted and the company never offered a discount. Last friday Dec.12, 2008 I got a phone call stating that they reviewed the pics (not mine) and were offering me $100.00 in damages ( I agreed sort of as I was sound asleep when they called), I realize money is tight for us all but I am on disability and cannot paint my living room it costs alot more than $100.00 to replace drywall and to paint a large living room, now I find out thru complaints that another was offered an $800.00 discount!!! I AM LIVID ALL THE AGGRAVATION I WENT THROUGH NOT KNOWING IF I WERE RIPPED OFF, WORRYING HOW TO FIX WHAT THEY DAMAGED...I HAVE TO SAY I WILL CALL MY ATTORNEY ON MONDAY never deal with this company
