Bad customer service
I have scheduled appointments with Empire Carpets that are then canceled on the day of, the excuse being that there is no representative in the area.
"Why make the appointment in the first place?" I asked them?
"Because we never know whether there will be reps in the area until the morning of the appointment."
"Meantime I have taken half a day off work. Is this really how you do business?"
"I'm sorry, but there are no reps in the area, we will have to reschedule."
And so on with the broken record technique. No attempt was made to send a representative and they defended their lack of integrity like it was perfectly normal business practice.
I don't know how a business that doesn't honor its appointments or respect its customers is able to still be in business. It is disgusting behavior.
If anyone can shed light on this matter I would be immensely grateful.

Laminate Floor
I had laminate floor installed in living and hallway 2 years ago, I called them because the floor is lifting in the living room, they send a inspector from a difference company to check the floor, the inspector with his Wagner meter showed we have moisture (excessive Moisture), the floor is swollen and peaked seams and cupping and he writes its caused by excessive moisture and he also says we should be using a humidity controls in the residence to maintain the moisture, We were never told to use any kind of devise for the floor, its also said in the report this is result of manufacturing defects or installation deficiencies or it can be from having concrete subfloor, I called Empire Carpets on 8/17/09 I left message and a lady name Helen called back and said someone from Empire Carpet would call back on 8/20/09, They had Linda from CS called and she said there's nothing they could do because there is moisture on the floor and that I waited a year before I called them and because they have installed floor in other house by the Beach and they have no problems they are not going to fix the problems, I told her I wanted to speak to someone higher then her someone in management and she said this is what they told her to offer me, because I would have to paid to have this fixed, management offer to take half off the price, again they don't want to take responability for what they, they are crooks and something should be done about them, It seems that there should be some kind of recourse against companies like this.

Poor Quality
I had Empire install carpeting in my dining room. Less than 1 month after installation the carpet started to unravel. It was also supposed to be stain resistant indoor/outdoor carpeting and yet it retains every single spot that ever gets on it. The sales rep seemed shady and spoke very little English. The installers spoke no English at all. I was told that the room had to be completely empty on the day of installation which I never heard of. For what I was charged, they should have just come in and done it all.

TERRIBLE WORK--WORKMAN THEFT
EMPIRE INSTALLERS RUSHED THROUGH MY JOB TO LEACVE EARLY ON A SAT. AFTERNOON. THEY ENDED UP STEALING PRESCRIBED MEDICATION FROM MY MEDICINE CHEST AND CREDIT CARDS FROM MY WIFES PURSE, CHARGING OVER $200 WORTH OF GOODS BEFORE I COULD CANCEL IT. I MADE A FULL POLICE REPORT.
THE CARPET ENDED UP BUCKELING DUE TO POOR STRETCHING AND TACKING DOWN OF CARPET. WHEN I MADE EMPIRE AWARE OF THIS WHOLE FIASCO, THEY HUNG UP ON ME. EMPIRE IS THE WORST.

Awful experience
I set up an appointment on-line through their website for an in-home quote. I had the ability to set up the time and day that I wanted them to come out to the house. It stated this is not your appointment time until you have been contacted to confirm. Soon after I received confirmation for the date and time via e-mail. It is like most service companies, a 2-4 hour threshold. I took of work to be home the time that they said they would be there and they never showed up. I never received a phone call or a follow up email as to why they did not show.

False advertising
Carpet and window treatments are both heavily advertised as NEXT DAY INSTALLATION. After ordering - you quickly find out the next day is for RE-MEASURING (after your salesperson does the initial measurement). After calling the service department - the representative confided that she has NEVER actually seen a next day installation. After waiting a week and never even seeing the measurment person - we cancelled the order.

Wrong carpet
Approx 1 yr ago, I bought carpet for my living room, dining room, and hallway from Empire. The salesman was ok, but not very experienced. What they advertised as 50% off was terrible. I opted for a much higher grade carpet, and a color that would not show wear and tear. When the carpeting arrived it was not the color I had chosen, however the name of the carpet I had chosen was attached to the roll of carpet. I thought that perhaps when it was completely installed it would resemble my original choice. It was certainly not even close to what I had chosen. I called the company numerous times, they stalled and stalled. I finally just learned to live with the carpet that I did not order. I was surprised when I read all of the complaints about Empire. I thought I was alone in this ordeal.

Unprofessional service!
Empire today carpets is the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with.
****** DO NOT BUY FROM THEM AT ALL***************
I purchased blinds for my windows and they said I could finance the order on their credit card thru GE money. No payments for 1 year. They needed an 800.00 deposit and that would be refunded to me minus the 25.00 fee once the order was installed. That was on 12/29/07. The install date was on 2/6/08. I have yet to be refunded and have gone thru three billing cycles on my credit card. I now need to be refunded the 775.00 plus the three billing cycles finance charges. I have left 15 messages for the person that I have been dealing with, and have yet to get one return call. It is now 3/20/08 and I am fighting for what they owe me on my other card. I repeat do not buy from this horrible company.

Wrong name!
Empire carpets is a small family run business in jacksonville, fl that prides itself in doing quality work. Please check your receipts, they probably say " empire TODAY" not empire carpets!

Incorrect installation of hardwood floors
I purchased Empire Floors for hardwood and carpet for my home.
After initial problems, (like the lead person talking on his cell phone all day about how there was a warrant out for his arrest), the hardwood floor was installed. It seemed fine. Then four months after the installation, the nightmare began. A toilet in the house malfunctioned and flooded most of the upstairs area and the hardwood floors had to be removed. Well....the hardwood floors was glued directly to the subfloor (Plywood) without any underpayment. Of course the hardwood floor would not come off easily and so the subfloor has to be removed where big pieces of the subflooring broke away.
What could have been an easy replace has been a construction issue and one that has to be figured out how best to replace the subflooring so the house does not become structurally weak and fall down!
