EMusic is a joke, DON’T JOIN. I joined believing their claims about having the largest music selection on the web. After joining and getting into their site and trying to download music from artists I had actually heard of I couldn’t find a single one. What a joke. If you want music you have actually heard on the radio get your music somewhere else.

Then when I tried to call someone I couldn't even find a number on their web site. I eventually found this number: 866-240-9271. However, in speaking to an operator I got nowhere. I explained that within 5 minutes of joining their service I realized they didn't have any music I wanted. They told me I could cancel the service but they were not about to give me a refund.

I recommend you do NOT join this service.

My American Express card had an unfamiliar billing from EMUSIC.COM in the amount of $24.99, dated 1/01/09. I called their telephone number and after being questioned as to my credit card and email address information, I was advised that since the charge was initiated in my household, they would not issue a credit-card refund. After I threatened the representative that I would report their company to Consumer Governmental Enforcement Agencies and also asked to speak to a supervisor, the representative relented and said she would issue a refund in 5-7 business days.

As I initially suspected, had I not disputed the charge, my credit card would have been billed monthly as part of a 'subscription'.

During my conversation with the rep, I was asked if, since I already had an account that was 'opened' with them, perhaps I would want to remain a customer. That, is apparently part of their M.O. They figure that they will either get new customers in such a way or for people who don't analyze their credit card charges thoroughly, they will continue monthly collections at no cost.

Conclusion: Dispute these charges with your credit card company right away and encourage them to look more closely into this fraudulent company.

I did a trial with emusic, that was being promoted by wal-mart with the purchase of electronic equipment. the trial period was for 7 days. on the second day I canceled my trial membership. I come to discover around 18 days latter that emusic had taken $19.99 out of my bank account. I logged on to emusic.com and filed a complaint and prompted them to refund my money, that it was wrongfully taken for services not rendered on 10/28/08, claim #329598-694032. emusic.com will not respond to the claim, and say that if I file anything else it will only allow them to drag out their effortless response. I believe that wal mart should also be aware of this kind of activity which is being promoted by them.

Tried to sign up for "50 free downloads". Complete waste of time! Once my credit card details had been taken I was asked to set up a password, after which I was returned to the credit card details page. I keep going round in circles. The "contact us" page is unuseable and the "chat" facility for online help is out of commission. My credit card company have been advised. Life's too short: don't waste your time with emusic.

Do not fall for free trial scam! You will be billd $19.99 a month until you discover it and no refund even though they can see, and admit that you are not downloading music!!! what a fraud.
