In August I ordered a pair of trousers from Norm Thompson, a company that I had done business for 43 years. I ordered on their internet site and paid by master card. I received the trousers and left the country for a vacation.
In December my spouse printed out the credit card statements and discovered that in August we had the first monthly fraudulent charge from Norm Thompson that totaled $61.75 by the December billing. When I phoned Norm Thompson they said that when I had ordered the trousers I had signed up for a rewards program. They said they did not make the charges but that they were from a Encore Marketing International at a different phone number. Further questions and accusations by me and the customer service employee said most people that called them about the charges never knew they signed up. I never authorized any charge by Encore marketing and never authorized Norm Thompson to share my credit card information. Encore MArketing was never authorized to make any charges to my credit card!
