I recently took a class at Epicurean School of Cooking in Los Angeles, CA. I was completely mislead by the owner and was given the brag list of the instructor's experience. Well, after paying the non refundable expensive course fee, I found myself in a "watch the chef" demonstration class when this was a course which was meant to be PROFESSIONAL and NOT recreational. The school is filthy, the hot water runs out half way through class so nothing is properly cleaned or sanitized. The counters are wiped down from the previous class with wet rags from the dirty rag bin with only water. There is NEVER enough equipment for everyone in a class of 10 to use. You will spend easily 1/2 of your time scampering about the school to collect the tools you need, only to return to your station to see that a fellow classmate has "borrowed" the tool they need as well.
THIS BUSINESS HAS A 'D' RATING WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. They say to use caution when dealing with this business.
The teacher doesn't even work full time in the area of culinary skills they are teaching. The teacher showed up 25 minutes late and does more demonstration and a VERY small percentage of hands on work. So basically, be prepared to go to a filthy, rip off, school of demonstration. Oh and by the way, if the owner says you don't need any experience, DO NOT BELIEVE HER. She'll tell you anything just to get your money. There isn't even an overhead mirror in this cracker jack rip off school.
Bottom line, what comes around, goes around. Karma's a bit-h!
