Misrepresentation of Product
Since I couldn't find Equine Muckboots with a horsehead emblem on the side of the boots at local stores, I did a search online. I typed in, " Muckboots.com", and shopped. After glancing at the website, it appeared that this facility, which is listed as being in TX, seemed to have the exact boot that I was looking for, and seemed to be the manufacturer's website . After ordering a tall pair, and a little bit shorter pair, ( 2 pairs of boots ), and then received them, I opened the boxes only to find that the boots shipped were nothing like what I wanted nor what was pictured. I immediately phoned the company's toll-free number, which was a cell phone, and spoke to one of the owners who hurriedly told me to just ship them back in the original boxes, which is what I did, and she said she would credit my credit card. Shipping them back was at my expense, which I was not happy about, as they were not as pictured on the site. ( Since this complaint - as well as dispute with my credit card company ), the enlarged picture has had the horsehead removed from the website.). I received an email stating the boots were received but the boxes were badly damaged. This was not my fault, as I took them to a US Postal office who took care of the return, and the boxes were fine when I sent them. My credit card was credited approximately $58.00 less than what I paid for the 2 pairs. The, "company", representative told me that since the boxes were damaged they were going to charge a restocking fee of 30% of my purchase price !!! After disputing charges with my credit card company and submitting documentation, the credit card company credited me another $30.00. One of the owners of the company emailed me saying he would send the boots back to me, but not refund my shipping charges !!! The website is a misrepresentation of the product being sold. I phoned a local tack shop who told me that the horsehead logo boots were discontinued about 1 year ago.!!! The horse head appears on the website. The choice is, "Equine and Ranch", or something like that. So, now I am out boots, shipping charge nearing 15.00, and part of a so-called restocking fee. There was no reason they could not be sold as new due to their excuse of damaged boxes. This is a family business. They should be further investigated. Everything might be bigger in Texas, and in this case egos and lies are bigger too ! Thanks for allowing me to share this. I will never order clothing, etc., online unless it is a nationwide store, etc., and I would not be out shipping charges, should a problem arise.
