i had a motgage with equity 1 since 04, we had always made bimonthly payments. Our monthly statement had been showing &78, 733.72 since 7/4/07 until we closed the loan 1/30/08. when we called for a payoff we were told $83, 983.33 the company could provide no satifactory explantion for the unreflected payments to the balance or why our payoff figure was wrong. they have since closed all their offices here in NH and are planning to close nationwide by the end of the year. They say they do not owe me any money and there is nothing i can do about it anyway. I have contacted the atty general and the banking commission, but I don't have much confidence in that. What about other people across the country who are going to get ripped off. I've seen nothing in the papers or on tv saying anything about this company going out of business. Whose going to bail-out the consumers who get scammed by these companyies with their irregular accting practices and fradulent monthly statements?
