Never corrected problem with furniture
Purchased sofa and two reclining chairs at the cost of $6508.92 on 5-8-10 delivered on 7-31-08. one chair makes grinding noise when opening and sofa wrinkles terribly when used. Tried to get store to fix but they claim there is no solution. Extremely difficult to get someone to talk to. I waited 35 years to be able to shop Ethan Allen and feel the quality just is not there. Continue to tell friends and family that the service is terrible. Wuld have done better anywhere else. Just not worth the money and aggrevation we have gotten.

Shame on them
Do not buy a mattress from Ethan Allen or anything for that matter! The customer service is terrible! They do not stand behind their products. I purchased a $2000.00 mattress set and cannot sleep on it, they came out and the tech said he couldn't sleep on it, so I thought they would exchange it out, but no he had me sign a paper that "he was there." NOT it was a paper saying not Ethan Allens fault! No one would help I even sent a letter to the President of Ethan Allen and he did NOTHING! I can't sleep on it at all you feel like your falling off the bed! So do yourself a favor buy from someone who knows something about mattresses not a $2000.00 set from them that I guarantee you won't be able to sleep on. I was at a party and was talking to another lady and she said her daughter had the same problem with a mattress purchased from Ethan Allen and they wouldn't do anything for her. The lady said exactly what I said she couldn't sleep on the mattress and felt like she was falling out of the bed! SHAME ON ETHAN ALLEN!!

Horrible quality
I have bought thousands of dollars of Ethan Allen furniture over the years. Five years ago I bought a very expensive sofa and loveseat upholstered with an upgraded chenille fabric and upgraded down pillows. After a year or so the fabric on the pillows began to "walk". They always look messy and wrinkled. I have called Ethan Allen on numerous occasions to see if they will do anything, no response. I took the pillows to an upholsterer and they told me that Ethan Allen should have put a facing/backing on the chenille so it would stay in place on the pillow and stay put. I paid a fortune for "Ethan Allen" quality and now have to replace them because they look so awful. I had a similar experience with a very expensive mattress I bought from them - $3000. After 5 years the mattress was totally shot and bulging at the sides. I am very disappointed that the quality of the product and the service has gone to the dogs - I would not recommend Ethan Allen to any one. Bite the bullet and buy American -

Do not purchase from them
I have never done this before, however my dissatisfaction with Ethan Allen has prompted me to warn others about this Company. I purchased the Quincy Bed (along with other furniture) from the Ethan Allen store in Manhattan back in the beggining of March. I was expecting out of town guests the first week of June, so I ordered the bed 3 months in advance to ensure I would have furniture in time for my out of town guests.

On Monday, it will be 10 weeks and I will have received no bed. At first my Designer lied and told me that the bed left the factory on May 10, 2010. I say she lied because when I called back a week later to receive a status update, she again saidthe bed was in transit, but couldn't locate the bed. In transit for a whole week and can't find the bed??? REALLY??? So, I called the Corporate Office in New Town, CT only to find out that my bed was NOT in transit, had not left the warehouse and has an updated date of June 14th. That's not even the date that the bed will be delivered (well after my out of town guests leave), that's only the date when Ethan Allen will receive another update regarding this bed.

When I asked Customer Service, how they were going to solve the dilemma I'm faced with now, I'm told "I'm sorry, but all we can do is wait on the bed to arrive." My "designer" is never at work and never returns phone calls (absolutely useless). I tried calling a Manager/Supervisor of the Manhattan store. She says that she will give me a call back with an update and guess what, I've never received a call back. These people are so disorganized and scatter brained that all they can do is repeat the Ethan Allen mantra that all furniture is cutom made to order. How is that a solution of not delivering furniture by the expected due date?

I ordered furniture online, a month after ordering from Ethan Allen, and the furniture was delivered yesterday. I had a better experience ordering online that dealing with this low budget company.

new impressions dining table
I purchased an ethan allen new impressions from the Milford Ct store earlier this year. I made the sacrifice of $900 in order to match the ETHAN ALLEN dining chairs purchased by my parents in the 1960s. After waiting four weeks to recieve we were very disappointed. One of the legs must have been damaged and was glued together! And there was dried glue dripping down the leg. There was damage to the top finish as well. I contacted customer service and after numerous communications they agreed to exchange for another one. Again we waited four weeks. The second was also defective, the apron on the leaf did not line up properly with the apron on the table, and there was a gap between the table and the leaf! VERY DISAPPOINTING!! I cannot believe the poor quality of workmanship of today's Ethan Allen.
I could have gotten better at IKEA!

Hostile to customers
We purchased a sofa from Ethan Allen, which was custom made and rather expensive. There were immediately two problems. The sofa smelled like a chemical factory and the cushions were so overstuffed that average people cannot place their feet on the floor when they sit.

We complained about both of them and they said, "If you'd like to spend several hundred more, we will remake the cushions. The odor will go away in a few months." They were unable to identify what chemicals were outgassing into our home. When I told them it was unacceptable for us to pay for cushions that they overstuffed, they said "Too bad." I will never, ever buy anything from Ethan Allen again.

Are you Rich & Wealthy?
I was greeted warmly and was addressed after requesting a Sales Associate to assist me. The discussion lead to several room makeover as a phased approach--to begin with the Dining Room. The Sales Associate was very eager to assist; scheduled several in-home visits on their calendar. Upon running a credit check which showed the current availability of a $10, 000 credit line, the mood and attitude change dramatically. No further visits were scheduled (in-home) no phone calls were returned and the pleasant Sales Associate underwent a transformation when learning of the $10, 000 sale. Samples were no longer available to view--due to other important (VIP-Ethan Allen preferred customers) presentations. During this economy -- stores need to re-focus their customer base and realize every customer is important. Isn't a $100 sale just as important? Who wouldn't want to afford to lose a customer? Rather than gain a customer through respect, trust, and commitment. 99% of all repeat customers (in any retail venue) base their experience on trust. Ethan Allen an American based company will be faced with some serious challenges considering all the potential customers this story has been told to--and similar stores that have been heard. The simple answer is to spread the word and eventually the company will be faced to make severe adjustments or likely to close its doors.

Customer Service
Worst experience we’ve had with a merchant since moving to Miami. Their 6-8 week delivery promise turned out to be 17 weeks.

In early September we ordered a large sectional couch as the centerpiece for the living room of our new home
The salesperson said she would get us a delivery in time for family visits Thanksgiving. It didn’t arrive then nor for Christmas or New Year’s

Calling constantly did get us a scruffy, ghastly old loaner sofa in mid December. The personnel at the local store were generally unresponsive to nasty . Especially when we had to solve a paperwork error (theirs).

Defective product
I ordered and received a farmhouse table from Motsinger's Ethan Allen in Akron, Ohio. Grease marks from serving food could not be removed. Ethan Allen decided to replace it. I questioned this and asked them why they thought the same table would be any different. They assured me there would be no problem. The new table came and the same grease marks from eating could not be removed.

The first time around the service man Gary never bothered to call me for two months, I had to call him, and he never did come out. I didn't ask to have the table replaced to begin with. Now I am done with this table, and I want to return it. I've had the replacement for barely a month or so. Ethan Allen is giving me a very hard time, and not answering and returning calls.

The manager Terri inferred that I was a liar and that nothing was wrong with the original table. Yet their lip service tells me they "stand behind their products."

Not reputable
I Ordered living room furniture in August from ETHAN ALLEN. I was told it would arrive in October. Now they are telling me it won't be ready till January due to Fabric delays. They have screwed up twice on my financing arrangements that we discussed. I'm being charged at a much higher interest rate for furniture I have yet to receive. I am going to cancel my order & Dispute these Charges! I have never been treated so badly. The designer I have been working with treats me as if I am demanding & unrealitsic. I told them I wanted it before the holidays & they assured me of this! I have never had trouble with other companies in ordering home furnishings. Spread the word. Buyer beware.
