My husband & I booked a room at the European Village in Palm Coast, FL for a 1 night stay on a Saturday night.
The resort and amentiies looked nice and upscale, we even liked our room! After we checked in we left the hotel to go see a movie in Ormond Beach. We returned to our room sometime around 10pm. Soon after we arrived back at our room we realized that we were directly above a nightclub. We knew they had nightlife around the resort, but that wasn't the problem. The problem started when we called the front desk and told him that our walls were vibrating and it's very loud in our room, then we were told by the clerk that the music doesn't stop till about 2am.
We were NEVER offered another room, so at 1:15AM we decided that we've had enough and checked-out. The desk clerk informed us that he had no authority to refund our credit card and that we'd have to call accounting in the morning (Sun.). So in the morning, we called this accounting person and she told us it would be taken care of 1st thing Mon. AM. On Monday AM I called the front desk to confirm the refund, and was told by another clerk that the refund was not issued and that ususally the NEVER issue refunds and that the clerk that worked on that night probably couldn't have moved us anyway and that they don't have access to all the rooms, and again she has no authority to help me and there was not anyone with any authority to speak with. I'm told again I'd have to wait to speak with the accountant on Wed. afternoon. So on Wed. afternoon I spoke with the accountant and she told me that she never said we'd get a refund, but that her "controller" would be in on Monday and that they said they would NOT refund our money. After a couple phone calls to her controller the final outcome was the same...the hotel refuses to refund our money and that we will just have to contest the charges on our CC. She would not give me any corporate contact or # or address info. She did however offer to give us a comp. for a future stay to prove that they are nice place. We refused their offer for reasons all explained above! Why whould we want to stay at a hotel that never has anyone on duty with any authority to either move a customer or whatever the case may be.
There are reviews on this resort on palmcoast.biz and the issues are very similar! I'm amazed and in total shock that this place is still in business. I've never been treated so poorly at any establishment.
