I took a survey for iPad and was offered 1 of 3 gifts. I choose the free trial of teeth whitener... Try it for 10 ten days and just call the customer service number to cancel within the 10 day trial if you're not satisfied with the product.
-10 day trial begins when you order
-Product is shipped 3-4 days later
-Today is the 9th day and product has not arrived
-I called on the 7th day to cancel and was told I needed to respond to an email with some info and an online signature (my name with no spaces).
-The email came and the return email address for me to respond to was [email protected]
-Of course I suspected it would not go through, but I sent it anyway with the info requested.
-I checked my email later that day for a confirmation email for my cancellation, but as suspected only received a "failure to deliver" notice with apologies from my email server which stated that they tried several times to deliver the email, but there was a permanent problem which seemed to be that the email address was over its quota.
-I called back the following day and complained to Everbright smile. A woman told me she would cancel my trial and send me an email confirmation, which she did.
-Later that day, I noticed that Everbright had sent a pre-authorization request to my bank the day before I called to cancel the trial.
-I called back again upset by this and was asked if I had received the product yet. I said no. She said I had to send the product back when I get it unopened or they will charge the acct.
-I said that I read the terms and conditions completely and it said keep the product if not satisfied.
-She said send the product back and then call us with the tracking number or we will charge you $90 for the product ok?
-I said no its not ok, its breach of contract and stealing money from my account, but I will send it back, and I will call the better business bureau as soon as I get off the phone, and if they charge my acct. I will call the police.
-She remained polite the entire time, but offered only scripted responses.
-As she continued with her thanking me for calling Everbright routine, I hung up.
I was VERY careful with this company suspecting that they would try to charge me some ridiculous way, but I didn't expect overt breach of contract and stealing from my acct. without my permission while I am calling within the trial period to cancel my trial.
I have seen many ads from this company online and for those less careful than I, they will surely get hit with charges of at least $90. And since these complaints are coming in from around the world, I suspect that possibly millions of people are being ripped-off.
How do you exercise a redress of grievances against a foreign online company. This anonymity has allowed them to last this long.
I'm thinking of calling the local police tomorrow and asking them how to deal with this type of scam in which at least many thousands of Americans are being stolen from.
I definitely will contact my bank tomorrow and tell them NOT to allow any charges from this company if its not already too late. I may get hit with this charge anyway. It will take weeks to months to resolve the matter and restore the money to the acct.
There must be a better way to deal with companies which commit criminal acts online intentionally and repeatedly for months if not years!
Beware all consumers! DO NOT EVER order the product EVERBRIGHT SMILE unless you enjoy getting lied to and ripped-off.
This company is definitely scamming you.
They didn't flinch when I mentioned the Better Business Bureau (They don't care)
They didn't bat-an-eye when I mentioned the police (They don't care)
And they difinitely couldn't care less if I am a satisfied customer.
