mislead
I was also at Everest College and was so mislead, one of the staff had promised me a job out of this, I even thought of dropping out at one point because of a job offer and she told me to stay that i would be so good in the field of Community Worker and Addiction councellor, well when i finished she had no idea what i was talking about and I could not even find a job placement, nor did they help much, many places I tried they would not except anyone from Everest stating that the school had a bad reputation, i would like to start a law suit against them, if anyone else is interested here in Ottawa please email me at [email protected]

inadequate education
I was presurred into starting immediately before my OSAP was completed and it all went south from there.. My OSAP was screwed for months, the course book are riddled with typographical errors. We were given sub-standard and obsolete equipment to work with that was prone to errors from age. 10GB IDE Hard Drives are obsolote and most are at the end of their lives, yet when your work is lost, it's ohhh well here.. and back to your P3-733 (if your lucky) to install Server 2003 all over again only to crash again because the hardware is old and obsolete. My funds were not coming for books so I resorted to .PDF's (the school's advice was get a job, meanwhile I applied for OSAP to cover tuition and books and am on ODSP and not able to work.) I was repremanded of course... I am not going to list every detail here but somebody has to do something about there so called "Colleges" destroying the lives and hopes and dreams of the poor who are trying to get ahead...

False Information, Shady Practices
Hello, my name is Jenna and I have an AA Degree and going to pursue a BA, but thought that a certificate might be good as well. Here is my story, it is long, but worth the read for those of you seriously considering this school and fun for those of you that hate what this awful school has done to you!

So I saw the add on TV many times and decided to finally get some information. I was contacted immediately after requesting a brochure for Everest in SF and was surprised at how quickly they were able to set up an educational interview and tour. I went with my mom and husband and met with a recruiter named Colette Johnson. She was a sweetheart, but at the end of the day she is a liar like all the rest of them. We were shown OUT OF DATE, INACCURATE statistical information regarding the wages of graduates (from 2008). Thank God I have just finished a Statistics Class at my previous school and was able to recognize these ridiculous, false stats. So I gave the papers back to the recruiter and told her these papers are useless because it's not accurate information.

So, I was interested in 2 programs: Medical Assistant and Medical Billing and Coding. I was given a 15 question survey to see which choice was a better fit and it was Medical Assistant. Well, the program cost is like $16, 500 which is way too much for a Certificate in my opinion. I asked Colette about the courses, and she explained that after the courses there is an Externship, but the STUDENT has to find the site...which is a major red flag. And then she told us Career Services will help you to find a job after you graduate if you are unsuccessful on your own, but that you should make friends with those in that department because apparently they help the people they like better than the average Joe.

I have almost fallen for scams in the past (like Western Dental telling me I have 13 cavities and then a real dentist telling me I don't have any). I was very weary and made a comment to the recruiter saying "I just hope this place isn't like Western Dental where there are a lot of horror stories" and she says "Oh no we aren't like that, I promise! You know there are some schools that are like that and they've actually had to change their names because of the bad reputation!" and I said "really?" and she said "yeah! like western career college changed their name...and some others" and I said "Well, did Everest go under a different name at any time? How long has it been around?" and she laughed and goes "well actually (she laughs), it's funny because Everest is a part of Corinthian Colleges and used to be called Bryman, but they changed the name for their ow reasons; not because of any problems" OOPS! That was what made me decide to Google this place, Thank God.

After talking with the her, we were shuffled over to the Financial Aid department to talk with a guy named Dennis. He was a complete joke. He was nervous and I could tell right away that he was basically reading us a script. He did an estimate for the costs and took my tax info from 2009. I asked him if it needed to be combined with my parents income (because at the time I was not married, under age 24 and still living at home) OR with my husbands income b/c I was married last year and the guy DIDN'T KNOW!! He took my wages alone and came up with a "TENTATIVE" Pell Grant figure. Then he put some government loan figures and at the bottom of the page only $1, 500 was left over and he said that is my final price to pay to the college. So he tried to make it sound like I was only paying $1, 500 of my money and hiding the fact that there were $9, 000 in gov't loans plus interest that I would have to pay back. I told him due to my husband's religion, we don't pay interest for anything and he kind of laughed b/c he thought it was a joke, which was offensive (FYI: Muslims don't believe in interest).
As the time approached 4pm, he said he had another appointment and we offered to go back to the recruiter and he said, "oh no it's fine, you guys are my number one priority right now, don't worry about it" and we continued until 4:10pm. I found it odd that he would just shrug off an appointment just to help a PROSPECTIVE ENROLLMENT. How much value does he give to current students? Obviously NONE! So that didn't sit well with me because I am one of those punctual people and I wouldn't want to be kept waiting if I had the appointment at 4.

After we left the Financial Aid we went back to talk to the recruiter. She asked us how everything looked so far and I told her straight up I won't pay that much money and we need to look at other grants or scholarships before making a commitment. She looked kind of disappointed and then brought over the Dean, Scott Marcelo or something, and that KID is a complete joke too! He must be 21 years old and he was nervous too. He asked how everything looked and I told him we will think about it. 2/3 of those people were nervous and unsure about what they were saying to us...how legit is that? Needless to say, I came home and looked up the reviews and have decided not to be a victim of this terrible scam.

Some things I'd like to point out is the recruiters make it sound like they are interviewing YOU, and they try to make it sound like you are a SOMEBODY. They try to make it sound like this "educational investment" is lifelong and worth it. Let me tell you, it's not! Colette and Dennis both have BA's (Chico and SF State) so I don't see how they can promote a worthless certificate or diploma when they themselves know a BA is more valuable!!

I don't know how these people who work for Everest/Heald/Wyotech/ITT Tech/UOP/any other "for-profit" schools can sleep at night. They have absolutely NO INTEGRITY and are worthless scum for putting the less fortunate and those wanting to better their lives into further debt. The students I saw during the school tour were sitting by themselves at tables or in groups, and I didn't once see a teacher. Where's all that "hands-on" training, huh??? A lot of the teachers aren't even teachers either, they are people with "work experience" so that means that they haven't been trained to teach properly. Don't fall for their lies; you will be worse off than you are right now if you go to this college.

Please, I beg ANYONE who even considers a "for-profit" school like any of the ones listed above to NOT GO THERE!! They will put you into further debt and they LIE!!
I IMPLORE you to go to a legitimate college!! A Junior or Community College will save you so much time and money, and it will actually be better for your life. The "lifelong investment" that Everest boasts is THEIR FINANCIAL INVESTMENT since you will be indebted to them FOR LIFE!! Please, do NOT give them your money and support this corporation of rich, low life losers.

To those of you who defend these types of schools, YOU OBVIOUSLY WORK FOR THE SCHOOL! I mean, at least be smart and change your typing styles, you are so obvious. If I could think of a better insult term to insult you people, I would! But for now, scum is the lowest thing I can think to call you sick, demented, no compassion, life destroying, EVIL people!! I would like to protest in front of this school, even though I am not a victim, it's important to stand up for what you believe, and I am very passionate about the public knowing the truth. So anyone wanna get together and protest in front of this school, e-mail me. [email protected]

THEY ARE LIARS!!!
I applied at Everest 2 years ago, and the things i had to see or better yet go threw was way to ridiculous. There was a fight everyday(we even had security to sit in the class) our teacher up and quit then was replaced with an unqualified teacher who taught us NOTHING but despite all the drama and lack of Teaching I managed to get straight A's. Well I was 2 months and a ex tern away when I found out I was pregnant. I talk to the Dean and also the instructors about this because I was hospitalized(because of pregnancy) and they assured me I could come back because of my grades and not having any other missed days the entire time I was there.During the whole pregnancy I kept in contact with my instructor and the program overseer, so I assumed everything was all good, until I made the call for my return and was told I had to start the program completely over but still pay for the first time and would have to take out a second loan to re enter. THIS SCHOOL SUCKS!!!

Complaint about Complaints
At Everest College we endeavor to relay to students the importance of professionalism. One of these points would be that if a student has a complaint or concern that they address it with the individual it is appropriate to complain to. In this manner the concern can be properly addressed. To post on a virtual bulletin board is not fair as it has not been directed to the individuals that might be able to rectify or even verify that the complaint is true. In the working world, this is how business is done. The complaint I viewed was 2 years old and although had detail, it is unfair to publicy criticize others when there is no avenue to express the other side. This college takes its students seriously, and the educational process seriously. I encourage my students to express all comments and we deal with them as they arise. Prospective students should think about what they are reading and whether it reflects the truth or not.

False Advertising/Unqualified Teachers
I attened Everest College and was really excited about making a difference in peoples lives. During the course the instructor would not watch us give shots, or draw blood she was busy speaking about her life and divorce and abusive husband. There was a accounting module we had to do I asked the instructor for help and she did not know how to do the accounting or billing, I was so frustrated that I went to the bathroom and cried. I could not believe I am being charged 15000.00 dollars and I was not getting all the education needed for the position which I thought would set me in my career. After graduating I was put in an extern site that was not ready we did mostly construction cleanup, there was no MA, no LPN, or no RN to train us in the field of Medical Assistant or to oversee us doing vitals, labs, or injections. I was so upset that I did leave a message for the extern coordinator and told her this was not for me, I am not learning what I came to school for. I was told that since the Dr. paid for us to learn Epic that I was fired I felt that gaining my experience in my field and getting the extra help from someone who was experienced and we could ask questions of was more important. I was not monitored while talking vitals, nothing it was just the Doctor and 2 externs me being one, the other extern was told to write the Doctors signature on a priscription by the Doctor and she got scared and quit. My Extern Coordinator stated that if I did not find an externsite within two weeks I was going to be dropped, my neighbor gave me the number to someone who runs an Oncology clinic and she let me finish my extern but with just taking vitals, I did one injection, and drew blood on a couple of employees and I was there for a month so still no training provided. After that the Extern Coordinator barely helped me job searches and being new to the field I did not know to much about the hiring process. It has been a year since I have graduated and still no employment, I was offered an interview for a caregiving position that is not what I went to school for. I believe Everest was very misleading in there adds and made you feel as though this would get you the career you deserve. There are so many students out here who owe Everest College money for what they did not accomplish in there add. Everest is a money maker not there to help you get into your field. The College is a disgrace. From top to Bottom.

Scam
I too attended this school and i realized shortly after i started going to this campus that the staff was not with it, already attending and knowing i would have to pay any way, i was stuck and had to stay. Staff NEVER told us when meetings were going to be until the last min. I was NEVER informed that i had to take a photo I.D. The staff could care less of the students, they are just there to earn there money! I have been out of school 8 months now and nothing!!! Ofcourse i know to do my own homework and i am but i am unable to find an open position, i am getting a lot of thank you but no thank you because i dont have years of experence, i only have 9 months experience with the school, most companies will not accept me!!! I took this and asked the school about it and what am i to do and if they would help me, all they do is IGNORE me and my questions, sometimes and often, they NEVER even get back to me and mostly if they do at all, they take days to get back and they will dance around your question and ignore you, they tell you to go in for there stupid workshops that in my opinion is a waste of time, i went to school i know how to act, etc. I am stuck with payments that i cant even pay, i have no income and i regret going to this school that treats you like dirt! DO NOT SIGN UP!!!

lack of teaching
everest college of burr ridge il is a joke first off the teachers are the most unqualified you can possibly get and the only thing that seperates it from an at home study class is the lab work that has to be done. most dr. s wont even hire people from this school . the staff treats everyone like shit the most important stuff needed to succeed they make you learn on your own then have the nerve to question the way you do it. if anyone is thinking of enrolling here dont go to sanford brown and actually learn something.
