My daughter with her fiancé rented the upstairs room and we paid the Executive Inn $2, 825.00 for the room and $500.00 for a deposit. The manager did not give her the original signed rental form. When I found out a few weeks later I told her to request the form, each time she made a payment the staff was unable or unwilling to give her the form. On the day of the reception I personally talked to the manager about the $500.00 deposit because we still did not have the form. He told me that as long as normal cleaning such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing, etc. was all that needed to be done, I would receive my deposit back. My daughter asked again that night and was refused again. She was shown a blank form but was not allowed to take it. The night clerk asked if she had paid a clean up fee, if so we could just walk away and do nothing. Since we did not pay the fee we cleaned the room ourselves and took pictures.
On Monday the 5th my daughter stopped by to pick up my deposit and $150.00 had been taken from it for cleaning even though the manager agreed the room had been cleaned. She was required to sign a form before she could have the $350.00 check. She did not receove a copy of this form either. I can only assume she was manipulated because the form was justify the manager's position. He was angry over a negative review that appeared on a website and told my daughter she would get her copy of the agreement when it was removed.
Throughout this ordeal the manager was not gracious or accommodating, but argumentative, especially when we pointed out things that had not been changed per our request. The bride and groom chair bottoms were broken, sunken and lumpy, the pink table cloths had mildew stains on them, the food serving area did not have a sink, it was not handicap accessible, 2 trash bags and no paper towels were provided even though the set up was for 300 people. The bathrooms were also bare. Surely $10.00 could have beeb spared $10.00 out of the $2, 825.00 for supplies.
I called to collect my $150.00 and was refused without any reason other than the “let me explain” comment without any real explanation. We demanded our agreement form and the manager told us it had been sent to someone and we would receive it in 72 hours. I asked what was in the agreement that he did not want us to see.
