Trip insurance
I purchased trip insurance for my wife 12/23/10 because she has had health problems that typically make it difficult or impossible for to travel. The advertising on the Expedia website for trip made it sound simple and easy. For $27 your trip is covered in case you need to cancel. The up sale is misleading and is intended to add $27 to the average order on the itinerary and make it virtually impossible to redeem. The printable voucher even says sign and redeem like cash. I have spent nearly 2 hours of my evening waiting on hold or being told my flight is non refundable. No where on the up sale page did it readily or easily discose terms of coverage. No where on the printable voucher named Expedia.com Voucher does it disclose terms of coverage. Instead it talks about the voucher being non cancellable or transferable and sign and redeem like cash. This is clearly false and misleading advertising. After reading the fine print the coverage is only good with a physicians note or death certificate which would be accepted by most all airlines without the purchase of trip insurance. I just spoke to a gentleman named Antonio who refused to give me his last name or give me his exact title. All he said is he was out of Las Vegas. Fortuantely for us we can get a physicians letter and ducumantation for our refund. The reason we purchased the insurance was so we did not have to go thru this hassle. I think expedia is intentionally misleading travelers with the upsale of this "trip insurance". I think all those who have purchased trip insurance from Expedia within the last 3 years should be refunded their money because it was sold in a deliberately misleading fashion.

Misleading Customer Service Representatives
I just had the worst customer service experience with Expedia! I called this morning to check my policy to see if I could cancel my hotel without cancelling my airfare. They confirmed that I could indeed cancel my hotel and get a $220 refund without disrupting my flight arrangements.
So I booked another hotel through another agency, received confirmation from them and then called Expedia to cancel the hotel. It was at that point that they told me that I couldn't cancel the hotel without cancelling the airfare and the airfare was non-refundable!!! The Customer Service reps were completely unhelpful and the supervisor at the Corporate office was condescending and flat out rude. Never again will I use Expedia for my online travel bookings!! Let the buyer beware!

Don't use it
I will never use Expedia again. An extra hotel room. I tried to cancel it immediately on the web, but received a notice that it could no be cancelled after 7:00 PM on Sundays, even though the reservations was taken at a that time. Since returning home, I have spent hours attempting to get a refund. To no avail, even though i have a letter from the hotel stating that we did not use this extra room. DO NOT BOOK With EXPEDIA! Use the website for info if you must, then book directly with all airlines, hotels etc. Save yourself much grief!

Error on reservation
I booked a complete vacation package on Expedia. I was not planning on travel insurance, however, they offered a cancel for any reason on completion of the reservation for $142. So I added it. When the email confirmation arrived I noticed an error in the travel date. My browser still had the proper date in the search field on Expedia. Called them right away. They refunded my hotel and air, however, they told me to call the travel insurance company for that portion of the refund. I called and they said Expedia would need to refund the $142. I call Expedia back and they said it was no refundable. I will never use Expedia again.

Holding Holding Holding
My name is Stefanie and I have been on hold for over two hours. Two hours of not only my time, but my employers. I first called at 9 am on Friday the 1st of October and spoke to a woman named Niki...She answered fairly quickly and was helpful until I told her I wanted to use a credit for the flight I was booking. Then immediately she said she had to transfer me to a service dept. It is now 11:28 and I'm still holding. I called on my cell phone to the same number NIKI answered on to make sure they hadn't forgotten about me and was told to continue to hold that the wait was normal, well by that time my Boss was a bit vexed and called himself...the lady that answered that time told him, after he expressed his displeasure, that she would put him through to her supervisor...Now we are both on hold!! He has been holding (On my Cell Phone) since before 11, so for 30 min. This is unexceptionable, does this company really think they can put us on hold and waste our time and that we will give up?!!! IM SO UNHAPPY ABOUT THIS!

Changed Reservation
I ordered tickets online through Expedia for travel to New York City in late June to July 5th this year. After choosing my Air reservations I clicked on the car rental choices. I do not like renting cars from anyone but Budget so choose Budget. I received the reservation and numbers and saved them to my desk top. The deal was that if I paid then immediately I would reserve a better price so I paid over $500 for a car rental for a week. When we arrived in New York the the Budget rental office they did not recognize the reservation # and had no more vehicles. They quickly called several other car rental places until they found someone with a car for us.
I cannot figure out, when I go to Expedia how to contact them about his problem and get my money back. I go to their website and there is nothing clearly displayed for disputes.

Never again
DO NOT BOOK WITH EXPEDIA, (unless you don't want your flight to be actually booked)
Before the return journey of a recent trip I tried to check in online to save time at the airport. The airline had no record of my flight and when I went to expedia.co.uk where I booked it I got an "Internal Message" error and had to call customer services.
THERE WAS NO RETURN FLIGHT BOOKED FOR ME EVEN THOUGH I HAD WRITTEN CONFIRMATION FROM EXPEDIA THAT MY FLIGHT WAS BOOKED. The agent on the phone explained that after I changed part of my trip, Expedia attempted to charge my credit card the change fee. When my card was declined (after they emailed me ticket confirmation) they said they emailed me back to let me know and that I had never responded.
I checked my inbox carefully, my spam email and my deleted items and there was no sign of this alleged email from expedia letting my know my flight was not confirmed.
When I asked to speak to the manager about this I was told there wasn't a manager available. I then asked the agent on the phone to pass a message onto their manager that I'd never book with expedia again and would be leaving a review of my booking experience on tripadvisor.com.
20 minutes Iater a manager agreed to take my call. He then started trying to blame me for not responding to the email they claim they sent out stating my flight was not reserved. I invited them to resend this email but they said they couldn't.
He again tried to blame me by saying I should have checked my credit card transactions online and noticed that the flight change fee hadn't shown up. I expalined that since my last communication from expedia was a confirmation of my flight in writing this responsibility was not on me.
He refused to take responsibility and reaffirmed that everything expedia had done "had followed protocol".
If I hadn't tried to check in online with with the airline I would have shown up at the airline and had no flight reservation. Expedia saw no need to take responsibilty for their slip up, continued to try and blame me. Never again.

refund for unused hotel room
Don't book with Expedia. If the hotel is disgusting when you show up, and you try to cancel, even if the reservationist will do it, Expedia won't allow you and will charge you. YOu are better off booking on your own. Save yourself the money and the headache, don't book with EXPEDIA!!

fraud
Hello, A little while ago, I purchased tickets for my wife and I to travel overseas. Upon ordering the tickets they mentioned that the transaction did not go through. I called my bank to see what was happening and they mentioned that the amount had infact went through. I tried to contact them to see what was going on. Upon contacting them, they gave me the run around. No one could explain what was happening and had no record of any tickets being bought. Ofcourse I called and complained about fraud. I am currently serving overseas and my wife has to go to the bank and try to sort out this delemia. I cannot believe that this happened. I am now out a huge amount of money and have now added unwanted stress to everything. I just want to advise people that expedia.com is the worst place to go to get anything. BE ADVISED!!! THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!!!
