Our water heater broke and Douglas (no last name given) was called. He came in and we indicated that not only did we not have hot water but we had leaks coming from the heater. Douglas evaluated the problem and noted that all that was necessary was a new thermostat. He quoted $300. NOTE: that we specifically told Douglas, the owner, that if a new heater was recommended, we would rather get the heater. He assured us it was not necessary. His assistant Mike did the work presumably because Douglas could not stand for long periods of time. When Mike completed the work (7.5 hours later), we checked and there was still a leak. We called Expert and Douglas assured us that this was typical until the water levels settled. The following day (Sunday), there was still a leak and collecting in the "water junction" of the heater. We received no response from Douglas nor did he return our calls of Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. Finally, my husband visited the office (we thought perhaps he might be out of town for the holidays (12/20). As we were leaving the driveway, he pulled up and that's when we realized he preferred not to respond to our calls. We left even though he had stolen (yes, STOLEN) money (non-compliance of a contract is a breach and fraud). We called Maitz and they completed the job.
DO NOT CONTRACT WITH EXPERT SERVICE of East Stroudsburg. Douglas is not an honest or honorabe individual and he will steal your money. His contract is not worth the paper or time.
