Fraud
I currently have had the AG's office open an inquiry into Express Home Services. I am also requesting a citation be issued against them by the Registrar of Contractors. Express Home Services fraudulently labeled a line of Flooring that was manufactured by a trademarked company then installed a substandard of that same company with the same color paper. They charged substantially. Upon contacting them both manager and supposed operations manager tried to shake me down for additional money to get the flooring we had already paid for. When we said no that they had to replace it they began insulting us. You can get the best laminate much cheaper anyplace else rather than Express Flooring. Fortunately the subcontract left the name of the flooring on the box of installed laminate so I could look it up. I called the manufacturer. That was Kronotex. I have also told Armstrong about an article inwhich they called Armstrong flooring by a different name in an ad. This is a violation of FTC. No one can relabel a branded product either. Furthermore, the lifetime warranty is not worth the paper it's printed on-the AG's office has made it very clear that a contractor cannot be held legally responsible for any installation two years following the install. If you have a contract and you have received a different product on the box than what you had paid for and what was contracted then that is fraud-none of the manufacturers will warranty the product and in two years you will no longer have legal claim to Express.

Product
We called Express Home Services to put laminate flooring in two bedrooms. We chose a product from a sample called Presidential line. the install occurred two weeks later and the product was econoline. When i looked up econoline i found it was a Kronotex product, the line we chose did not exist. these people took our money and install a substandard laminate that was worth 8 times less than what we paid minus install. Apparently from the moment you call them they are screening you through telephonic aand sales rep interaction for targeting victims. They record you and know when you are calling based upon caller id and give false names since these people know who they have chosen to target. Most people don't get any product after paying them, Reviews of civil actions have shown they have been sued numerous times for the same reasons. The employees are aware of the fraudulent scam and some honestly tell you this. Express Home services hides the manufacturer name of their samples from view through fraudulently labeling product, and they so the same in their press releases as well, The lifetime warranty is not a manufacturer warranty because the product contracted is not what was installed, and the lifetime warranty only applies to the install warranty. Legally a contractor cannot be held responsible for any installation over 2 years post installation. I have contacted and filed a case with the AG's ofiice, they also tried to 'shake more money' from me when i told them the flooring was wrong. I am visiting with the fraud unit and will be filing a civil suit in court and pursuing damages. There are people here who have paid them for work and flooring and they haven't even shown up. If there is a complaint they will retaliate. I need all the help i can get I would like to run them outta town. There have been reports of Express flooring sending people to debt collection after signing a contract and never receiving services. It is my opinion that the contractors are narcisistic punks who live in a fantasy world and feel powerful. And as I said they do retaliate

POOR BUSINESS PRACTICES
THIS ADVICE IS TO EDUCATE CONSUMERS ON THE POOR BUSINESS PRACTICES OF EXPRESS HOME SERVICES. MY ADVICE WILL SAVE YOU $$$$ BIG BUCKS!! IF YOU DO NOT TAKE THIS ADVICE...ALL I CAN SAY IS...YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
I will break everything down very simple to understand and make this as quick and efficient as possible.
1. RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH. Look at there BBB Rating (Better Business Bureau) at www.bbb.org and you will see over 137 complains in the last 36 months!!!
2. GET THE SQUARE FOOTAGE IN WRITING. They will not tell you the square footage price. They make it sound like you are paying for a package deal, but that is not the case.
3. LITTLE WHITE LIES. If your carpet is on back-order, you will be told that the product (carpet, tile etc.) CAME OFF THE TRUCK DAMAGED.
4. AGAIN, CHECK THE BBB. It gives you a breakdown of the poor business practices of Express Homes Services, LLC.
5. ASK FOR A CONTRACT BREAK-DOWN. Do not sign contract until you know exactly what you are paying for!!!
6. JUST ENOUGH PRODUCT TO COMPLETE YOU HOUSE. While the Design Consultant is at your house, they will more than likely call up the main office to see if the ware house has enough product left to complete your house. Once the Design Consultant gets off the phone he will tell you they are checking stock. Then, the Design Consultant will get a call back from the office saying there is JUST ENOUGH to complete your house. This is a clever scam to get you to put money down quickly. Get a price from Home Depot, Empire Today among other various flooring companies and compare apples to apples.
7. HEFTY RESTOCKING FEE. Be prepared to pay a hefty restocking fee if you cancel within 3 days of your flooring being installed.
Trust me when I say I know how they operate. It is sad...just remember, you have been warned!

Crazy workers
We purchased a laminate flooring at the end of March. We couldnt have been more pleased with the salesman and how well he sold the company not ony on their product but their wonderful customer service! That quickly ended as soon as the installers entered our home.
The company promises next day installation. Ours was scheduled 3 days after our initial appointment. The installers showed up and at first we thought everything seemed great! They proceeded to work about 4 hours before calling it quits for the day. We were told they would be there for at least 8 hours. We proceeded to question the installation manager as to why this was and received several explanations as to the reasoning behind it. We let him know that we were not pleased as almost all of the work could have been done on the first day. We then became aware of some damage to our 2 week old dining room table and also mentioned this to the installation manager. We were told to let the installers know as they are licensed and he would take care of it.
The next morning I was promised that the installers would arrive at 8am and would be finished no lataer than 3 pm. Around 8:30 the first installer arrived alone and I questioned him about his partner. He let me know that he would be arriving by 10 am. Again not what I was guranteed the prior day.
The second installer finally arrived around 10 am and worked until he decided to stop for lunch promplty at 11:30. After returning from there lunch they worked until about 3:30 at which time I went down to take a peek and noticed that the work was not completed correctly. We were to have the new laminate from our entrance way, through the living room and into the kitchen and dining area. This was not the case they had left the original vinyl in our entrance way and had molded around it as if they were going to leave it.
We had questioned this the day before as it seemed odd to us that they hadnt ripped it up with the rest of the old product, and were assured that it would be removed. At this time I let the main installer know that this was incorrect and he proceeded to raise his voice to me asking me why I had not informed him the day before. He then told me it would be at least another 4 hours of work and began ripping the molding off and throwing it across my living room with my child and a relative standing in his violent path!
At this point I was very uncomfortable being left alone to deal with this man as my husband was working. So I proceeded to contact the company and make them aware of what exactly was taking place. At this point I was shown some concern by certain employees of the company and they even spoke to the installer and reprimanded him. I was also promised that something would be done for me and I would be taken care of regarding this situation.
Within a few hours the installer called me downstairs and let me know that he was finished. I immediately began loooking over everything as quickly as I could because he was in an extreme hurry to get out the door and was still very angry at this point. I began pointing out a few areas that were left very unprofessional and it was as if I was not even speaking to him. He was very dismissive and was hardly even answering me at this point. I then asked him about moving the furniture back as this was another one of the things our salesman had promised us was included. I instructed him to help me with a few large pieces and at this point I gave up because there was such a mess left that the area had to be cleaned before anything else could be put back. Honestly at this point I just wanted him out of my home.
He slamed out of my home and tore out of my driveway in such a rage that he failed to notice his own bucket and he ran it over and got it logged under his van. At this point my husband arrived and witnessed the installer removing his bucket and leaving our home.
I again contacted our salesman and let him know that the installers behavior did not improve and made sure he was aware of how the rest of the day went. He assured me that this was unacceptable and I would be contacted on Monday from the owners of the company. That never happened.
It wasnt until many phone calls and lots of complaining that I finally became so irratated that I wrote a letter to the President of the Board. Again no response. I again began calling and was told to speak with Henry Jaffee, who listened and took notes about the situation and guranteed me that the items on my list of complaints would be taken care of and that someone would contact me to schedule a time for someone to come and repair these items.
It has been over 40 days since my initial installation and I have since cleaned and made the majority of the repairs to my home myself. I am still getting the run around about what I need and when if ever it will be completed.
I was able to find one employee out of this company that honestly was concerned and disturbed about the events that took place during my installation. He battled on my behalf to those that are in a position to make this right and in doing so has potentially jeopardized his future with this company. I think this says all that needs to be said about there wonderful customer service.
This company could care less now that they have my commitment to pay for their services. I have requested some type of adjustment on bill for the way this installation took place and I have been firmly told that this is not going to happen.

Buyers beware
CONSUMERS BEWARE!!! As an employee of Express Home Services L.L.C., I wish to remain anonymous. I have seen first hand the faulty business practices consumers are forced to endure after signing a legally binding contract. They include, but are not limited to...
Product Bait and Switch
This is the most disturbing, and a very common practice used to keep you from cancelling your contract within 72 hours. This happens as a result of promising next day installation of a product that in most cases isnt in their warehouse, and in some cases has not even been ordered by the installation date. "Design Consultants" show up to your house with a high end sample, and lock you into an agreement. When the installers show up, they will unload inferior laminate product made overseas instead of the high end Shaw or Mohawk product you are expecting-the same goes for top of the line plush carpet being switched out for bottom barrel product in the same color-DO NOT BE FOOLED!Ask to see the box your product originally came out of, not the repackaged box bearing the EHS name. You can request the sample be brought out on the day of installation. You can also request the bill of lading bearing the product name and call the manufacturer the installer picked the product up from. You have the right to question ANYONE coming into your home!
Faulty Installation
EHS has been BOOTED from the Better Business Bureau, and receive countless complaints with the Registrar of Contractors on a REGULAR BASIS.Customer complaints include tile that has been laid crooked and unevenly staggered, contrary to the manufacturer's specified requirements. Laminate installations where, instead of manufacturer's 2 in1 underlayment, the installer used a cut up piece of cardboard-this caused the floor to squeak so bad it had to be tore up and replaced(mind you, the installer still worked for EHS after this incident). When the customer complained, EHS told them the monsoon moisture was the cause of the squeaky floor, this is FALSE! Any installer knows laminate needs to acclimate in the environment it will be installed in for at least 48 hrs prior-this is a guideline EHS blatantly ignores as they are a next day installation company. In cases like this, EHS will actually try to "buy the customer out" to keep them from filing an ROC complaint. In addition to this, EHS installers are subcontractors, not Express employees! Another common practice is telling customers their product has been damaged to buy some time until they actually receive it in the warehouse-DO NOT FALL FOR THIS! You can request to see the damaged product to ensure you are not being lied to.
Immoral Sales techniques
In an effort to lock a customer into a sale, often times a "Design Consultant" will place a mock call to the office in front of you to give you the impression they are "checking stock"-do not fall for this! In most cases they are using codes, and talking to an answering machine! This is the most deceptive practice, as they make you believe stock is limited when it is not!Furthermore, there have been cases where customers have requested a detailed billing after realizing they paid way too much. EHS will NEVER provide this! Ask yourself...If they are legitimate, why is this a secret???? Do you not have the right to know what it is that you paid for, line for line?
My intent in filing this complaint was not to point fingers or name names, but rather get this off my conscience!I am not typing this out of anger or malice. Legally, I have every right to post this as I have never been asked to sign a confidentiality agreement by my superiors, and the information is not falsified in ANY WAY. I hope anyone considering a flooring purchase with this company will read this first !
