Refund
Dp yourself a favor and do NOT do business with this store inparticular or this company. After not being satisfied with my eyeglasses (didn't like them in general and they couldn't be adjusted properly after several tries) I returned them as the back of my paperwork said "100% Satisfaction guarantee" within 30 days. I returned to the store not even 24 hours later..the $217 I paid with cash I was told would have to come in the form of a check..bummer, I thought, but ok...as it would "only take 14 business days"..20 business days came and went so I called the store and got corporate's number, AS I had already spent my money elsewhere on glasses and contacts and rent and other bills were coming due and I needed my money!..after having to research this, I was called back and told the store manager "never submitted the paperwork" for my refund and now I will "have to wait another month"???? No! No way! I can't! That's my money and I need it! And who is running the customer service department anyway?? This is not how you treat customers! I googled when I was waiting for my refund just to check and see if anyone else had a problem or if this process went smoothly and of course, see for yourself, everyone seems to run into this. I was hoping I wouldn't but here I am. At a time when every penny counts they're going to make me wait another month and will I receive it then? Will I ever receive my money? This is not fair and this is a horrible place, period! Now just received, how ironic, as I'm writing this, a call from Natalie in customer service..she said they found my refund and will be sending it out Friday..I asked her to verify my address bc I do not/cannot have this NOT come I am already late on my bills and she said 63..name of my street..I said NO it's 463 NAME OF MY STREET...they had the number of my address/street wrong!! It is not Natlie's fault, she has been very helpful, I want ot point that out, but this has been a nightmare. I am truly sick to my stomach.

False advertising
The advertising they have on the commercial is totally False Advertising 2 pairs for $78 you do not have thousands of frames to choose from you only have 30 frames to choose from, these people need to be stopped !!!

My second pair was crooked, I went back 4 times to get them adjusted, however, the secretary just told me not to fall asleep with them so they wont get bent out of shape, unreal, I take my glasses off prior to going to sleep !!!

Please someone investigate this company, this is wrong, they should be sued for false advertising ! My $70 visit resulted in $357.

frames for eyeglasses
On August 13, 2008, I took my daughter to Eyeglass World on East Tropicana. My daughter had the exam, and we bought her glasses there, also. When we went to pick them up 10 days later, the nose piece fell off of the frames she had picked. They gave her a temporary pair of frames and told us they would call when the correct color frames came in. When I checked back about a week later, they hadn't even ordered them. They told me to check back in about a week. I did. Still no frames. I decided the temporary frames were ok and that I would wait the 6 months that I had paid for for the VIP service where you get a free pair of frames at the end of six months. I called them today, explained about the damaged frames she had received and the temporary frames she had been given and that I had never received the phone call. The gentleman on the phone insisted that because she had been given the temporary frames, she had received the frames that I had paid for, when in reality, it was not what I ordered. So I then asked him if they had the same frame in stock, since I would then use my VIP service to have the lenses transferred into the new frames. No such luck. They, of course, do not carry that style anymore, and I would have to pay for a new pair of lenses. So, now my daughter has to wait, with a pair of broken frames before we can afford to buy her a new pair. I will never, ever, use these people again! Someone should do something about this.

Bait & Switch
I phoned the Melbourne, Florida Eyeglass World on Sept 12, 2008. I told the woman who answered the phones that I had printed their "1 Pair of Glasses Only $29" coupon off their website.

I asked her if they had glasses in that price range. She said that there were. I asked if I could come in that afternoon to see them and told her I had my prescription already. She told me to come in anytime and that I didn't need an appointment.

I drove 35 minutes to the Eyeglass World in Melbourne, Florida that afternoon only to find that there were NO eyeglasses in that range!

The salesperson took me to a rack marked "clearance" that was filled with children's frames and told me the $29 frames had to be chosen from this rack but that there weren't any men's frames.

I asked her why the coupon said "any frame under $79" and she replied that the coupon was only good for clearance frames and there weren't any available.

She did tell me that she could sell me more expensive frames from the clearance rack!

I believe this is what is called a bait and switch.

Eyeglass World should be ashamed of themselves, especially since I phoned first and asked their salesperson if the glasses were available. I wasted 70 miles of my fuel and time because of their company's dishonest advertising.

Do not use them
I went for an eye exam on June 19, 2008 at the EyeGlass World location at 44 E. Grand avenue in Chicago, and ordered a pair of glasses. The total price was about $275, and they said that it would take about 10 days to deliver the glasses.

I decided to charge the glasses, but since I needed glasses the same day, I took the new prescription to another store that can deliver glasses in about an hour. The second store made a pair of glasses based on the EyeGlass World prescription, and when I tried them on, they were all wrong.

After a little investigation, it was determined that the EyeGlass world prescription was wrong. I got another exam at the second store, which confirmed that the EyeGlass World Prescription was wrong, and the second store made me a good pair of glasses.

I called EyeGlass World immediately, and they agreed to issue a refund. I went to the EyeGlass World store to fill out the paperwork that they asked me to sign and said that they had to forward the request for the refund to headquarters.

11 days later, I checked my credit card account online, and still no refund. I called the store, and it turns out that this store went out of business some time in the previous 11 days.

I have since attempted to contact EyeGlass World headquarters in Florida with no success, and I am in the process of disputing the charges through my credit card company.

Do not deal with these people. If ever there was a fly-by-night organization, this is one.

They don't care about the customers
I bought a pair of glasses with Transitions lenses here in Mobile on May 6, 2008 -- they were charged to my credit card that very day. I was told it would take approximately 14 days for them to be ready. I called after a week and after two weeks and they were not ready. After three weeks I was told they were being shipped. A few days later when we went to the store to have an adjustment to the glasses I was wearing, I asked about them again. It was Sunday, and he could not check until Monday, but said he would and would let me know. I heard nothing Monday or Tuesday. I called him Wednesday, and when I got to talk to him he had not checked. He did then, and called to tell me they were shipped the day before, and would be ready in a day or two. When I got a call saying they were ready, four weeks and two days later, we went in, only to find they had the wrong prescription in them and everything was blurry! I asked for my money back. He said they don't do that, but gave us a customer service phone number. We called, and when we got a person, we were told the store manager has to okay that. We went back, and found he is the store manager! A few days later, yesterday, after calling customer service a couple times, we got a call saying we would get a refund in 7 to 10 days! They have had my $312.12 since May 6, and I should have to wait another 7 to 10 days!!! I have tried to get an explanation, but they will not return phone calls or emails. I have nothing in my hand to show I will get my money back, so in the meantime I do not want to go elsewhere for glasses that I might end up having to get there. I hate that I ever stepped foot in that store and I am letting everybody I know about what kind of company Eyeglass World is. They do not care about their customers.

Still no glasses
Eyeglass World is a POOR EXCUSE of a company and should be PUT OUT OF BUSINESS. I purchased glasses over 2 months ago and was told to allow 3 weeks...never received call and when I called, I was told that because of my strong prescription I had to select new frames from the selection THEY CHOSE, although I paid extra for the lens to be thinned out and they did not have my correct telephone number, although I gave it to them...3wks pass and no glasses or call...was told to give another week, still no glasses...their excuse this time...my one pair of glasses had a nick in it and was sent back. I was told they don't do refunds, only exchanges. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN AND WILL WARN OTHERS TO AVOID THIS MISERABLE EXCUSE OF A COMPANY.

Avoid at all costs
The eyeglass world in Louisville ***!! I have never experienced such poor service. They were willing to take my $500 at the store, but when I failed to receive my contacts, they said a refund could only be issued through "corporate". They said contacts would be in 2 weeks and after 6 weeks of no contacts, I asked for a refund. There has been no apologies and no attempts to treat the customer with respect This is a rip-off scam of a store! Whatever you do, avoid this store. I may lose my money but I hope they go out of business and their employees go to he**.

Terrible service!
On March 6, 2008, my partner Brian, had an appointment at EGW in Denver. He had, in hand EGW's current ad listing a price of $129, which was to include: A three (3) month supply of Accuview contacts.

One (1) pair of prescription glasses,
One (1) pair of non-prescription glasses (from 'selected styles'),
Two (2) boxes of contact lens solutions, and
Three (3) years savings of 50% on all future purchases.

Since his old glasses had been damaged beyond repair/use, I drove him to the appointment and waited for him. After a long time (over two hours), he came out to the vehicle to let me know that they were running significantly behind schedule but that it wouldn't be much longer. After another hour, I went in to the store to check on progress. By that time they had finally completed his eye exam and contact fitting, both of which he said were done in a hurried fashion.

He picked out the frames for his glasses, and he & I sat down with Joanne Munoz to discuss final options, payment and delivery. In an attempt to maintain goodwill for EGW after the intolerably long wait, Ms. Munoz offered to take $59 off of the $129 price. Brian had already paid EGW $89 for the exam and contact fitting. So, with the $59 discount offered by Ms. Munoz, the balance due should have been $70 + tax. She told Brian that she would place the order for his glasses and requested that he try a sample pair of the contacts for a few days before placing the order for the three month supply. Brian is living with AIDS and on Social Security. Based on that, he asked if it would be possible to pay the $70 balance when he went in to pick up his glasses. Ms. Muniz stated that that would be fine and that his glasses would be ready in 7-10 days. We left the store four full hours after arriving.

On the 9th, Brian called back in to say that the contact prescription was working well and to request that EGW go ahead and place the order for the full supply. Shortly before 9:00 pm on Tuesday the 11th, Brian received a phone call from Mike, the 'manager' at EGW who stated that Brian still owed EGW $129 and that he wouldn't receive his glasses and that his contacts wouldn't be ordered until the balance was paid in full. When Brian told the 'manager' about the good will adjustment made by Ms Munoz, Mike informed him that Ms. Munoz didn't have the authority to make that decision and that he 'would address that issue.', making it clear that he had no intention of honoring the commitment.

Since ethical, customer service oriented actions don't appear to fit with EGW's corporate philosophy, it seems safe to assume that Joanne has been terminated for displaying initiative. Unfortunately, she made no notes on the paperwork given to Brian to reflect the $59 credit, which was to be given on Brian's account.

Calls to EGW's corporate customer service (800-584-4150 x2042, Gayle) have gone to voicemail with no response after four days. All Brian wants is his glasses, contacts and sunglasses at the price offered by the EGW ad and Ms. Munoz. At a minimum, there should be some form of compensation for eight hours wasted at EGW.
