scam from india
I just got off the phone after speaking to representatives for EZ 1 Rate for 30 minutes. Apparently, I had won $300 in gas coupons for being such a reliable visa customer and all they needed was a visa card number to verify I was still a customer. I spoke to that representative (Allan) for 25 minutes asking various questions and wanting a customer service number that I could call back on because I don’t hand my credit card numbers out to people who call me. He tried to convince me that the 16 digit number on the front of my card was not my credit card number, but an identification number to verify I was a customer and by just having the 16 digit number they wouldn’t be able to charge anything.
I started doing internet searches while on the phone and found EZ 1 rate listed related to a bunch of ripoffs. I even started reading the text to the representative and he still tried to convince me he was legit.
After 25 minutes he passed me to his manager (Jason from VIP Health Card) who was resistant to give me a customer service number but finally did (1-866-691-4944) Then I told him I would most likely not be calling back as I found both companies mentioned related to scams on the internet, obviously he was not please and wanted to know why I wasted his representative’s time.
I have been receiving phone calls for over a week from unknown numbers in this area code, even at 11:45pm, so I was irritated and felt like passing that irritation along. I also asked to be removed from their list.
I just hope they don’t take pieces of my conversation that they recorded and somehow make up an authorization for goods. Although, I didn’t give them any account numbers so I am not sure how they could.
I just feel badly for trusting people who really need $300 in gas coupons so they unknowingly give up their account numbers and then get taken advantage of.

scam
Received a phone call from EZ1Rate explaining that I was 1 of 3 in my state selected to receive a $300 gas card to try their services for free, which included some sort of long distance calling card and a health insurance card for discounted rates. I became skeptical when the man on the phone said that I would have to give him my credit card number to pay the shipping fee of $4.80 (because, seriously, if you can give me $300 in free gas and other free services, you can afford to pay the shipping). When I told him I wasn't interested he had a whole line-up of things to say to attempt to calm my concerns and assure me that it wasn't a scam; he was very persistent. When he said his name was "John" I grew even more suspicious because English was obviously not his first language. I wrote down all the information he gave me and told him to call me back in an hour. A quick search on the internet revealed a number of complaints regarding this company. He hasn't called back but if he does I might mess with him a bit just for fun. "John" said his employee ID was 4312; the number he gave me was 1-800-923-8939 (EZ1Rate, Carson City, NV). He also gave me a website that didn't check out (www.viphealthcard.com) but I found another website with a similar address so there may have been a miscommunication due to our language barrier.

3 calls a day!
These people call me 3 times a day from an unknown number. Each time I ask them not to call me again and the calls just seems to get more frequent. They are calling for a person who had this phone number before me (she must have given her number out to everyone because I get tons of phone calls for her). I am a school teacher so most of the time the calls go unanswered. But I was home today (Mardi Gras Holiday) and I decided to really answer this time. I asked for the company name and the first gentleman wouldn't give it to me. I told him that would agree to the package if they gave me the company name (so I would be able to recognize the charges on my credit card statement). A woman came on and gave it to me (step one). Then she preceeded to tell me that this was not a sales call and that it was a "customer appreciation" call since I was such a good customer to the local gas station and the local mall. Funny - they were calling for someone else. She said that the person at this number was a good customer and that I would get a $300 gas card and a calling card for just $4.95 (guess the shipping charge went up from September). I would just have to give them my credit card information. I told her that I would like a phone number to call her back since it is consumer safety 101 not to give credit information out over the phone to people you dont know. She said there isn't a number to call her back at and that the information would be confidential. Ha! I told her again that I even do that to my credit card companies that call to verify information. I always call them back at the number on the card and refuse to give information out to people that call me. She then hung up the phone.
I tried calling my cell phone company to get the calls blocked and they said there is nothing they can do except to change my number. Since I just changed it in December... it would be a pain to change it again. If anyone has the phone number to this company please share since that seems to be the only way to block these annoying calls.

Free gas card
This suppose company keeps calling stating that VISA and Mastercard are celebrating something and that our phone number has been chosen to recieve a Free $300 gas card. After asking for name and address, they ask for for credit card number. No matter what you tell them, they keep trying to get your card number. By their accents, they are from India. They do not even know what 911 is. It is apparently a SCAM. These people are extremely pushy in wanting your credit card number. They will tell your anything to get your card. They only way to get rid of them is to hang up the phone; however, they keep calling back no matter what.

Scam/Gas Card
Ok, these idiots called my house at 9:25pm… telling me how I unknowingly was registered and had won a free contest for a $300 gas card. Suspicious? Haha… I already knew it was a fake because the first thing I asked them was the company’s name. I then came here and saw that it had plenty of evidence pointing to fraud. After that I decided to have a little fun :)… Serria Martin was the girls name she had a thick Indian accent. She was telling me that it was a verification call and that to receive my gas card all I would have to do is pay a $1.95 shipping and processing charge for the next 3 days. I straight up told her that I was under no circumstances going to give out any credit card information. She proceeded to tell me that I wouldn’t have to and that all she needed was my name and my address. Sure. After the name and add. She said that she needed to make sure that I had a valid credit card. I again told her that I wasn’t going to give out any numbers. She responded by telling me that all she needed was my type of card. I was already pissed at her so I grabbed an old Simon Gift Card. After telling her the type she asked for the 16 digit number on the front of the card. ??? I was like wtf. I actually had an argument with this girl about how the 16 digits on the card were personal. She insisted that the only the number on the back of the card was the secure number and that she was not going to ever ask for it. I was using an empty gift card so I just went with it to see how far she would go to get the number on the back… After giving her the numbers on the front she told me “now all you need to do to receive your free $300 gas card that you can use at any gas station of your choice is give me the 3 digit CC number on the back of your credit card” ?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!!?! I flipped out on her. Cussed her out. Then I asked her why she needs it if all she needs to do is verify the card. She explained that in order to verify the card she would have to charge a “trial charge” of $1.95 to assure there is sufficient funds on the card. She then proceeded to tell me that the “trial charge” would be immediately refunded back to the card. Haha wow. These scams get better and better by the day. I talked to the girl for almost 25 more minutes. I started calling her “babe” “baby” and best of all “sweetheart” then I started asking her all kinds of personal questions. I told her I was a doctor and had always dreamed of having an Indian wife and she should come live with me… geez. After I had had my fun I said the stupid number to her. She then said “I appreciate you cooperation and we will be mailing your card to you in the next 7-10 business days.” I stopped her and said, “listen, what if I was to tell you that I know for a fact that everything about your company is fake and that I have given you a gift card number that has no money on it, and oh yea the address I gave you was fake too.” :) “click” she hangs up. I just sat there and laughed. She was the most determined telemarketer I had ever seen or heard of. She needs some type of award. This all went down about an hour ago haha. Fun night?
Enjoy… I highly recommend this tactic to anyone looking for a good laugh.

lying
This company thinks people are stupid! I told them to remove my name from their list and talked to three different people who ask me "Don't you trust me?" I said no each time while I was looking the company up online. It had numerous complaints and the word scam written all over it. The told me the website was "under construction" so I would not look it up. Finally, the third man hung up on me. I never even gave them my name! BEWARE!
