Fake check scam
This happened to me this week, I figured it was a scam but I wanted to see how far he would go.

I had listed some items for sale on a few message boards, I get the following email

"Hello Seller,
> My name is Terry,
> I hope your items is still available for sale?
> It's present condition?
> An updated pics{if any}?
> Your last price.?
> Year/month of purchase.
> Hope to hear from you in earnest
> +447024054752"

Seemed a little strange but hey I'll play along, Send him a pic of the wheels and tell him the price, $850, he emails me this song and dance (sorry don't have that email) about how he has his own shipping service but he will send me a money order for $1500 if I will wire the remaining funds to his "collection" service to pick up the wheels. By now I am intrigued, So I write him back saying sure but where are you located. He sends back "Hello,
> Thanks for the mail i want to know what is
> happening may be the items is still available for
> sale so kindly get back to me with the details that
> i requested for so that i can issue the payment out
> as soon as possile.
>
> FULL NAME ON THE CHEQUE::
> ADDRESS:
> STATE:
> CITY:
> COUNTRY:
> ZIP CODE:
> YOUR ASKING PRICE:
> PHONE NUMBER:
> MOBILE NUMBER:"

and he is in canada he said too, umm bs. At this point I just have to see what he does, I give him the address of my office and I don't hear from him for 2 months (no shock) then I get an email "Hello,
Good day to you, i just want to know if you have reciever the check now, if so kinsly get back to me okay.

Soonest Reply

Regards

Fabulous" Followed by "Hello,
Thanks for the patient kindly send me your cell number so that i can call you for more details"

Well the next day an envelope shows up from I don't know where with spanish wording on it inside is a "offical check" for $4500.00, it looks fake as hell and the ink is coming off, it says it is from US Bank, humm thought he was out of the country in canada, so I call the US Bank in town and tell them the story, I take the check in and they make a bunch of calls and surprise it comes up fake...oh and he is using the name Fabulous Cole now on the check, turns out the check was using a number that routes back to a US bank in Tn.

Ok here is what is funny the bank did not care that their checks were being copied, they just said yep fake shred it, ok figured they would want to look into it. Two I never responded to the last two emails so the guy still thinks I am playing ball, should I report him to someone and let them try to catch him since the communication channel is still open, should I see what he wants next just for fun or just forget the whole thing?

Anyone else run into this guy trying to buy things from you online?

Thanks just had to share this story :D
