Unless you are homeless, indigent, and dont mind being treated in a sub-servient manner, do not work for this company. They waste your time with calls and email surveys to qualify you for a job. They have very strict qualifications. If you dont qualify, youve wasted 15-30 minutes going through the qualification process for nothing. Often they have several recruiters for the same job, so you could be contacted and interrogated repeatedly. One recruiter may consider you qualified whereby another may not, so you could be booked for a job only to be later CANCELLED FOR THE JOB. Being qualified for a job is the first hurdle.
In the event you are booked for a job, theyre located in a mall, so its like a maze parking and finding them. If you do not arrive far enough PRIOR to your appointment time and they have reached their quota of market researchers (they often overbook, just to protect themselves, all at your expense) you will be turned away WITH NO PAY. It will have cost you time and money to go there for nothing.
If you are one of the lucky ones, they line you up like soldiers, shouting orders such as have your ID ready. You are given yet another form to complete, and a card with group numbers and/or letters(representative of what you are to them.) Then they march you down the hallway, where you are seated in a room with a group of other victims. There are various rules you must follow, such as turning off your cell phone, you cant leave the room to go to the bathroom, wear perfume, eat, drink, talk, read, etc.
When you have finished, you once again line up like a soldier to receive a measly stipend, a check for $25-30 (maybe more, if youre lucky) for your time and trouble. If you forget to have your parking ticket validated, you pay out of your pocket.
All in all, from the initial phone call to the time you leave the parking lot, you have invested several hours of your time being qualified by phone or email, driving there, parking in the mall lot, walking to their bldg., lining up to sign in, sitting to be called and then again for the job, lining up to be paid, walking back to the parking lot, and driving home again, to be treated badly and be paid a mere pittance. That is, if youre lucky enough to even be picked for the job!
I'm not a labor law atty, but I tend to wonder if this company is in violation of State labor laws?
