I am a member of California Family Fitness Center in NATOMAS, Sacramento, California. On June 7, 2009, I found my "digital" locker was broken into. The suspect stole the following:
1) Italian made Alligator Wallet $571.
2) Italian made Crocodile Hang Bag $464.
3) Garmin Nuvi GPS $158.
4) LG Cell Phone, Model 9400 $300.
5) Loss of cash in the wallet $600.
6) Cost of obtaining California Temporary Drivers License 22. TOTAL THEFT COST $ 2, 135.
California Family Fitness Center insurance company (Philodelphia Insurance Companies) declines to pay for the loss because they determined the digital lockers were "defective." My locker was one of the defective ones.
The Philodelphia Insurance Company made
CFFC replace the defective lockers.
As a member/consumer I have been left with no choice other than filing a complaint in Small Claims Court against the California Family Fitness Center. CFFC says the members should not bring their wallet and anything to the club. At issue is the DIGITAL LOCKS which can easily be manipulated. The problem of theft was also reported by KFRC, NBC affiliate, News at 12:00 noon news on June 7, 2009--the same day that
my locker was broken into. If the Club had mannual locker that members could use their own lock and key, instead of digital locks, such thefts would been avoided. The matter was reported to the Police Department and it is under investigation. The irony is the CFFC has not posted a WARNING for members not to take their personal belonging such as wallet, watch, rings, gym bags, etc. to the Club. This is very interesting, indeed.
