on dec.21 i was diagnosed, by the family health care of long beach, with an ear infection. unfortunately the medication prescribed does not exist in the formula requested. the pharmacy faxed the clinic for a correction at about 1:30 pm. by then, the prescribing physician, who is only a part timer, was gone. but apparently it didn´t matter because the fax was lost. when the corrections were not made, as i waited at the pharmacy, a second fax was sent. while i went home to wait for a call. this fax was apparently lost also, as i still did not have my medication by the 22nd of dec. after a call to the clinic by the pharmacy to make sure the number used was the correct number, a 3rd fax was sent. it apparently was received and i expected the correction to be made and i would get my medicine. it didn´t happen. as the day wore on i made several calls to the clinic to plead for some action on my problem. by about 6:oo pm i was assured by the receptionist that an "urgent request" was made to the physician on duty that the problem would be handled. nothing was done. i was not called, the pharmacy was not contacted, the doctors just went home. my last call to the clinic was handled by the answering service and after contacting the emergency doctor, the correction was made, but by 7:30 pm it was too late to do me any good. for the second night i went without medication because no one at the clinic, for two days, would take 30 seconds to correct a simple problem.
