CANCELED AFTER ONE CLAIM...Several years ago I requested a liability policy to cover my small construction company. I did like most of us do and trusted the agent to sell me a policy to cover my needs. I recently had an accident where I tree I cut down for one of my customers fell on a parked car. At the advice of my agent I submitted the claim and that is when I found out that my policy did not cover that type of work. Farm Bureau paid the claim, which I was told they had to because there were no exclusions in my policy. Understanding the situation, I contacted my Farm Bureau agent to correct my policy and I was told they would not write me a policy of any kind. After several letters to the underwriter and the agent in question, I was offered a policy from some other company somehow tied to Farm Bureau. So much for customer loyality. And why didn't the agent explain all this to me and give me other options? I am refusing this new policy and taking my business elsewhere and would suggest that you really do your homework if you choose to do business with this company. Don't trust the people that work for them to know what they are doing and to give good advice. Had I not put the claim in and paid it myself, I would bet they would have written me a more appropriate policy for what I do.
