coustomer services
this company does not play fare with there coustomers they have jacked the prices just to get money for themself or i shouldsay themanagers do and the company does not ever know because the paper work is done at the final end of the contract to appear on the up an up . this has been done several times and the managers has been caught an nothing is done they just get moved to another store an get a slap on the wrist. the manager at this store altered one of my checks and is still working there an the district did nothing about it nor did the company. they said be3cause they could not prove it was with intent to pocket never theless it should not have happened . no ones check should be altered if something is wrong they should call the coustomer and ask for them to come in an make changes . so i think someone or somebody shouldhold them accountable for there actions all involved . they don't stand behind there furniture if there is a problem they get rude and never sometimes do anything the coustmer is just stuck an this is not right. i just hope there is justice out there for all of us that work hard for our money.

Collection Practises
My wife and I have had some horrible experiences with the collection department of Farmers Furniture. We ran into financial difficulties in late March 2010, due to my wife's husband losing his job thus he was unable to pay all of his child support regularly for 3 month's. My wife also underwent major back surgery on April 22, 2010.

We ran behind on many bills and we are still in the process of catching up. Every creditor has been wonderful in helping us to set up payments to catch up.

Farmers Furniture on the other hand was a nightmare! The Farmers Furniture account is in my name only. Georiga law is not a community property state, therefore they were not allowed to discuss this account with my wife without my express consent. However that did not stop them from harrassing her and upsetting her while she was recovering from her back surgery. She told them multiple times that she was in no condition to have them speak with her.

They continued to call my wife. Our account with them in April 2010 was only 28 days late. I received a call telling me that if I did not pay before the account went 31 days late, my account would be sent to their legal department and I would be sued. I was blown away to say the least. I sold what I could and went to pay the payment.

They continued to harrass my wife and threaten her with my account being sent to the legal department where I would be sued. She was beside herself. She was having to deal with getting back to walking, and other things from her back surgery. Every day was a struggle for her. She still cries over the pain she has 4 months out of surgery.

The harrassment and threats she continued to received from the local Farmers furniture prompted her to call the main office to speak with the legal department. She told the woman who answered the issue we were having. She promised to have someone call my wife back. The regional manager (or we believe that is what he is) called my wife back. They spoke and she told him about all the incidents.

My wife has a paralegal background and knew that the local Farmers Furniture had broken many of The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. She relayed all the laws that had been broken to the regional manager. He promised to contact the store and tell them they were not to ever speak with my wife again nor call her cellular phone.

We are very upset by this. My wife suffers from Bi-Polar and the events that took place with farmers furniture made her very depressed. She even had to have her anti-depressant changed over the incident with Farmers Furniture.

We are wondering if anyone else has been threatened by Farmers Furniture or has their information regarding their delinquint account (which ours has never been over 45 days late while trying to catch up) been told to other people, which is illegal under the law stated above.

Incomplete delivery
June 22, 2010

Farmers Furniture is a name I will never forget and a store that I will never again patronize or recommend.

I went in to my local Farmers Furniture here in Saint Augustine Florida on Friday June 11th and found a bed that suited my purpose. I thought about the bed over the weekend and arrived back in the store Monday morning the 14th and the first thing I asked is if I purchase this bed could it still be delivered on Thursday, I was told it would be, I negotiated a price and agreed to purchase the bed. I then proceeded to walk around the store making several more purchases. After my purchases were rung up it was then I was told that I missed the cut-off time for the Thursday delivery, of course that made me angry since if there was a cut-off time I should have been informed and the order could have been put in their system the moment I agreed to make the purchase.

The bed was now going to be delivered first thing Monday morning the 21st of June. First thing in the morning turned out to be 1:30 in the afternoon. The head board to the bed arrived damaged; I spoke to the manager on the phone who gave me two options: 1- he would refund my money, 2- I could wait three days for another headboard. I had to give your manager John the option of selling me the one on the floor at a discounted price; he would not discount the headboard but agreed to give me the one on the floor... Well instead of having his men go back to the store and pick up the headboard they left the assembled platform in my bedroom and the mattress in the kitchen propped up against my counter-top promising me they would be back after making just one quick delivery of a table and chairs that I could see in the truck. By five in the afternoon they never came back or even bothered to call me, I had to call the manager and he hung up on me. I called him back and he said all I’ve done was to yell at him, I told him he should have never left my job half finished leaving me with nowhere to sleep; I was very aggravated especially since I spent the weekend in a hotel room while looking forward to having my own bed Monday night. He just didn’t care and made it quite clear I could have the headboard the next day or they would remove the furniture already in my home, also the next day! He left me hanging with the fact that I can just live with a job half done and sleep on the floor. What a dreadful way to do business, but of course I learned this is the Farmers Furniture Way.
John, the manager at Farmers Furniture is my opinion is very rude and incompetent, I can see no reason what so ever why those delivery men couldn’t go right back to the store, pick up my headboard and complete the installation. As a manager he should have seen to it that my installation was completed. The delivery man even had me sign a paper saying I would receive my headboard that same day, I suppose lying is just another service Farmers Furniture provides!

I will also add that the three ladder shelves I purchased were not put together properly, the wood cracked during installation and the dowels were not glued in the wood leaving gaps between the wood under most of the shelved that is very noticeable. Over all my experience with Farmers Furniture has been horrible, I am a very unsatisfied customer.

Fraud and scam
I first purchased furniture from Farmers in April of 2008. I purcased a sofa and and king size bed frame. When they delivered my furniture the sofa was torn. So they said they would leave the torn sofa with me until they delivered me a new sofa. After almost a month of no word from them I called to see where my sofa was and it had been in their store for at least a week and they said nothing to me.

They gave me a deal of a small amount off because I was angry about no phone call and my furniture just sitting there. About a week later they came with the new sofa and surprise surprise it was ripped. My husband decided to go to the store and pick a different sofa. So we picked out a sectional for a lot more money.

When they delivered it the sofa was torn, one of our end tables was broken and the wedge for the sectional wasn't there.Plus the bed frame I bought was all cracked on the wooden support rails. We were highly upset so they tried to work another deal and take off a little more money. We thought they were trying to be helpful.Well after a couple weeks they delivered a new sofa and the wedge. The wedge was ripped. They brought us another one and it was ripped.

We had to go on vacation so we told them they would have to deliver the new wedge when we came home. We spoke with the manager while on vacation and he said they ordered three different wedges while we were on vacation that were all ripped. So finally they have one in the store that is not ripped. Let me tell you, the date is September 3, 2008 and I still am waiting for my new wedge.

Now all of our furniture is ripping in places and wood is poking through the back of the sofa. You know what the manager says to my husband about it? He says well you are paying $1, 400 and it only costs about $500 to make so you are getting $500 quality furniture. His suggestion was to just buy more expensive furniture.

So instead of apologizing and trying to fix the problem he says he wants to take our furniture and give us our money back. He is acting like we are the problem for wanting decent furniture that is paid for with hard earned money.

Crappy Service, Late Delivery
Well altogether I have spent thousands of dollars at this furniture store. Everytime I have purchased furniture at this location I have been promised a certain delivery time and they can never meet it. I am not talking a reasonable delay I am talking, 5 weeks the first time, 2 1/2 weeks the second time, and of course the third time is not the charm it will be another 2 weeks past the delivery date promised. When I contact the store the management never comes to the phone and the poor salesman has to feel the wrath of the unsatisfied customers. Do yourself a favor do not shop here!!!
