Delivery
I had a parcel worth over £300 due to be delivered on Saturday 17th July. I'd been tracking the parcel using the online tracking system since Thursday night. The parcel reached Chorley early on Saturday morning...a short 30 minute or less drive from my address; no attempt at delivery has been made. My parcel was supposed to be "Next Day Delivery" but as it's now 10pm I guess that's now out of the question, I'd stayed home all day because I was expecting that parcel.

I logged onto the tracking system to double check and noticed that the "Next Day Delivery" had now changed to "Next WORKING day delivery" which means I'll now have to wait an extra two days for my package to maybe, eventually turn up.

A work collegue has used Fed-ex before and has helpfully offered me a lift to Chorley...apparently fedex are in the habit of getting the parcels to that point and then telling customers that they've made reapeated failed attempts at delivery and that the customer will have to pick up the package themselves.

late delivery
I will never us FedEx again. Sony sent a package to my house with a tracking number to be delivered on a certain date. I checked in the morning and the package was to be delivered by 3 pm. I waited all day. When I called at three, I was told that the driver could not enter the apartment complex. We have a box at the front gate with our names. All the driver had to do was select my name and it would call me. Their excuse was he was not able to open the gate. Everyone else who visits us has been able to contact us without any problem.

Unfortunately, the next week I went to a FedEx Kinkos store to deliver a computer to my son. I paid an extra $15 to have the computer delivered at a certain time and date. I was told that I could choose a time based by the hour. The package would be there at 4 pm on May 5th.(not earlier nor later) By 4:45 my son informed me that FedEx had not arrived and that he had been sitting by the front door since 3 pm. I called FedEx and was told I am sorry it was not entered into the computer and they would call to make an appointment. I said that was not what I paid the extra $15 for. They were apologetic and said they would have it out there by 5:15 pm. Well, I am still waiting to hear whether or not it arrived and it is 5:10 pm. I will never use FedEx again. UPS seems to be much more reliable.
