Avoid this company!
Fedex Shipping
www.fedex.com
I used Fedex to ship a $700 Bathroom Sink to a buyer in which I purchased the insurance. The item was well packaged and had ample packing material. The sink although considered fragile was very thick and would have had to sustained a substantial drop to break. Anyway I filed a claim and within a couple of days it was closed. I contacted Fedex and they stated that they were unable to pick the item up. This went on for over a month in which I was contacting the buyer and Fedex and every step of the way Fedex was all but eager to close the claim each time. Well finally after the claim was re-opened for the 6th time they finally picked the item up but then it sat at some terminal for another month. After re-opening the claim numerous other times they finally did an inspection and said that they denied the claim and closed the case. The reason according to the claims agent was that the item had insufficient packaging. I asked to have the item returned to me so that I could inspect the packaging myself since I knew it was well packaged when it left here. The claims manager then went on to say that they disposed of the item because they deemed it as being hazardous material by OSHA regulations (due to broken porcelain). The manager then went on to quote the Fedex agreement in which I acknowledged that they have the right to dispose of materials considered hazardous (i.e. chemicals). I have extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and I told the manager that there is no OSHA regulation listing porcelain as a hazardous material and requested that she referenced the OSHA regulation to which she was referring. She was unable to do this but still insists that it is hazardous materials. At this point the manager stands on her judgment and there is no recourse for myself other than looking into legal action against Fedex. Long story short Fedex was all to eager to close the claim every step of the way which tells me that they are hoping a shipper will eventually drop the claim and then upon further escalation they use every and all means to deny the claim. While I was researching this whole ordeal I did find some more shocking info on there insurance agreement. Even though they collect the insurance they will not pay more than $100 for several items including antiques, glassware, art, film, photography, jewelry, etc., etc. It seems that it would be a scam of sorts that they will collect insurance for amounts well over $100 but limits there liability to a max of $100. Well from now on I will take my business else were (not that it will mater to them) but I hope to have informed others on there business ethics and help avoid similar situations.

Ground delivery
Fedex uses shady practices they picked up a item from Washington dc and were supposed to deliver to my home in nyc within 1-5 business days i called on the 4th day to get the status of the delivery they told me the package had been delivered and no one was home to accept it!! I work out of my home I am always there. Then they told me that the package never got on there truck and that I would receive it the next day .I am still waiting for it. I live about 2hrs from dc I could have drove there and picked up the package myself about 20 times by now and spent less money on shipping which was 75 dollars. Then i found out that they use private carriers to do there services these people are really not part of there company they are just hired contractors what a surprise!!! It just goes to show you that the major companies in this country are not what they used to be they downsize for bigger profits and leave the consumer out to dry do not use there services try dhl or go pick it up yourself good luck and god bless America!!!

FedEx don't deliver on time!
I recently purchased a Genie garage door opener from Lowes, upon installing it I realized a malfunction circuit board needed to be replace. After speaking with Genie tech, they said they'll replaced it for free since it is under warranty. I am not happy and frustrated that a never open box Genie garage door opener have defected part. Don't Genie Company have quality control department?
I waited 5 days anxiously to receive this circuit board, it's already very inconvenience everyday I need to open the garage door manually. I ask Genie tech for FedEx's Home ground tracking number and on FedEx's website it said, it'll deliver on Jan 27, 2007, 6:46 AM On FedEx vehicle for delivery HACIENDA HEIGHTS, CA. I called FedEx at 8:30 AM and asked when will the package be deliver ? The lady said it cannot be track, once a package is on a truck to be deliver it cannot be located it. At 3:15 PM I still didn't receive the package, I called FedEx once again and the lady said, I'm cannot track the package since it's ship via Home Ground. However, if the package is shipped next day the FedEx operator said we can try to call. But since it is Home Ground we cannot help you. She said please just wait from now to 8 PM.
Time gone by, now it is 9:50 PM and the package still didn't show up at my home. I once again lookup FedEx's website, it still show the package is gone out to the truck to be deliver, no update. I called FedEx for the 3rd times and inquired where is my package. The lady said, sorry we cannot lookup your package because our Computer is down for maintenance. I asked to speak to her supervisor and explained to the supervisor how frustrate I'm. How can a big corporation like FedEx lie about delivery? Today is Saturday and it is only weekend I have time to work on repairing the garage door opener. I never thought about FedEx to be the problem. The image of FedEx totally changed. I used to think FedEx is a much better run company in comparison to UPS. However my perception and really life experience tells me not.
It get even worst, the supervisor said Home Ground unit is closed on Sunday and Monday. That mean I won't get my package until the following Tuesday.
I never thought a big company like FedEx will missed delivery and have no systems redundancy to support customer who call on Saturday. This whole ordeal really changed my perception of FedEx bad execute operation.

Subsequental package lost!
I ordered a product that was delivered by FedEx. After arrival the package (unopened) was to be returned to sender. FedEx came to my house, picked up the package "with-out a signature". FedEx subsequently lost the package. Now I still have to pay for the goods I did not use. FedEx should have requested a signature so they could track that the package was picked up and where it went. They should act responsible. $397.00 gone

Fragile object thrown towards door
Recently we had a Cell phone shipped to us and the delivery guy threw our package from the road to the door instead of coming to our door and safely keeping it in front of our door. He didnt even knock the door bell. The tracking number for this shipment is 732533211849.

I will not use their services again
I moved from Los Angeles to Ames, Iowa and sent most of my belongings, including my computer, through Fed Ex. All of my packages arrived on time, however my computer would not start up. It had been wrapped in a heavy winter blanket as packaging and I am positive this was good enough because bubble wrap has the same cushioning quality. I had all my boxes insured just in case something like this would happen. I emailed Fed Ex and made a complaint. They sent me a letter saying that only the sender could make insurance claims. I wrote back to them saying that I was both the sender and the receiver. They sent me the same letter back saying I needed to be the sender. Since writing letters didn't work, I called them. When I called, there was no one available to help me with my claim until a couple of days later.
Now, if I were living at home, this would not be as crucial. However, I had just moved to Ames, IA for graduate school and I needed the internet to get settled in and started with school. This was aggravating an already stressful transition.
So I finally got through to an operator in "Claims." After I tell him all the information about the computer I had, he says that it's too outdated and that the "Blue Book" value of my computer is around 150 dollars. I tell him that it's been upgraded and that despite how old it is, it is still valuable to me. He then transfers me over to the people who arrange to pick things up for claims and they tell me they're going to send someone over to pick it up. I specifically asked them if I needed to do something in particular with the computer and they said no.
The delivery people came to pick it up but they left it there. They also left a note saying that it has to be packaged for delivery. Another day and I got it packaged in bubble wrap and the same box and they took it. Then after a while they send me an email saying that there was only a cable modem in the package and that they had returned it to me. I never got it back. They had sent it to my address in LA.
If it weren't for the fact that my parents still lived there, they would have sent my computer with all my personal private information back to an old address. That could have turned out badly. Now I just needed to get back to LA in order to resend it to Fed Ex so that they could check it out again.
Luckily this was around Christmas time so I was already going to LA. When I saw the returned package, it was a complete wreck. My computer looked like it had been tossed down a flight of stairs and then put back into its box and vioently shaken. I repackaged the box and had it sent to Fed Ex.
They returned the packaged to Ames, IA this time and they said that they could not give me the insurance claim on my computer because it was improperly packaged. By that point it had already been a few months since I started this claim and I was too tired of it to file another complaint. Looking back on it now, it was a big ordeal just to have them say that they refuse to make good on the insurance.
Fed Ex certainly disappointed me and I will most likely not use their services again.
