I was redirected to this site from a government site. The site was simple in design. It offered a free CD for grant searching on-line. CD does not work on a Mac OS X so I was never able to use it or launch any application. All you had to do is pay for shipping & handling for $1.88. Months later come to find out that unauthorized charges started to appear on my credit card statement; $98.04, $48.16, ect...

After researching and calling the company, they said when you check and accept the "Terms & Condition" you are signing up for a monthly service for $48.16. If you do not call and cancel the service it will continue to charge you until you call them. This is considered predatory and deceptive business practices. I called them to cancel and they said it had been more than 30 days and their systems would not allow charges to be refunded, however they canceled on the spot. I called my credit card company and they were aware and said they get a lot of these cases. I disputed all charges and they are crediting my card back. I feel that no trial membership should be continued beyond the scope of that trial without secondary authorization to continue. These deceptive vendors are consumer predators hoping to make money off of busy people. For every one person noticing this scam 100 people get taken advantage of, therefore they make money off of this practices so the business risk is justified in their eyes.
