Schwab First Invest Visa - Now FIA
FIA Card Services has taken over the Schwab First Invest Visa.
We are about to see a whole new level of complaints.
Schwab customers are a whole different critter – a different DNA.
Their spending is high, and they usually pay in full each month.
Checking out FIA I have noticed two things.
Online – Hard to find most recent activity. It was last on the list.
When looking at last statement – could only see minimum amount due.
No where is the actual bill amount to be found.
(This is going to drive Schwab customers batty)
With online bill pay - it only shows the minimum payment in the box.
You must change it manually.
Still pondering why FIA sends their bills on such plain envelopes.
It always appears as junk mail in a regular sized envelope.
All my other bills come in smaller envelopes, and at least the words credit card services on the return address portion. It takes months to realize that the only mail you get without a name in the return address is your FIA credit card bill.
Lets see how complaints change from here on out.
Now FIA has new critters in town, let’s see what they do with them.
If they start messing with the 2% cash back – and making it a scam like Discover and Chase, they can expect to lose many good customers.
We’re smart enough to know the cash back scams!
We’re not your average Americans.
We take calculators to everything – and crunch every number.
After all – we are investors.

extremely high interest rates
Walter S Westberry no longer even uses this FIA card and is being billed 24.99% interest monthly and charged interest on balance transfers, cash advances that are not even being used. $214.99 interest on balance transfers and $12.04 for cash advances.
We are paying more than the minimum payment each month but with $229.44 monthly interest, we may never get it paid off. I think someone should do something about this high interest rate we are being charged and not even using the card at all, just trying to pay it off. It is not fair to have worked all our lives and then being saddled with enormous interest rates that they absolutely REFUSE to reduce. What can be done? I have already complained to my senator in SC and also lodged a complaint online about this. Tell me what can be done, and DO NOT tell me to go to credit counseling.

Telemarketing
I am frequently being interupped by phone telemarketers attempting to sell me Insurance to protect my identity. I have always asked them to stop calling and if I was interested I would not buy from a phone telemarketer. Today on SATURDAY morning I received another one of these calls. I have never been interupted on Saturday and was infuriated by this action. Please take my name off the list for telemarketers only call if my card has been comprimized.

Worked for FIA Card Services

Dirty Management
Listen up, I used to work at this company in Georgia. I know for a fact that the management in FIA Card Services is a bunch of lying and dirty crooks!!! I was told by MANY managers in the Ga office to set-up payments from customer's accounts, I also saw many employees just set-up payments without talking to customers. I am not sure what to do about them, My wife had a credit card with BofA (which is the parent compay of FIA) and they uped the interest rate to over 24% for no reason. We were never let on a payment and there was no promo for that card. We transfered the balance off that card and opened a credit card with my new bank and havnen't had any problems since. I wish I could tell the proper people about what goes on in that compay but I guess this will have to be my bullhorn.

FIA Sucks

Unfair Interest Rate Increase
I have had a credit card with FIA Card Services since 1997 (Formally a Suntrust Card) and rarely carry a balance for longer than 30 days, typically paying the balance off in full every month. By accident I was 48 hours late with a payment on a balance of $800 (my credit limit is $29, 000) which was the only second late payment in 12 years. Their response, increase my rate from 7.99% to 24.99% which after many calls they point blank refused to reduce even after I said I would close the account. As I use the card for business and spend many tens of thousands of dollars yearly it makes no business sense. These guys are blindly sticking it to their customers. Well I have spent up my rewards dollars, paid the balance to zero, cut up the card, ordered a new card from a different provider! However so as not to impact my excellent credit rating they can just keep sending me paper statements reflecting a zero balance.

Thug behavior
This concerns a Visa account I have had for 12 years through my credit union. In that time I have never missed a payment or been late once. Recently, my credit union sold off their card operations to FIA Card Services. FIA Card Services specializes in sending out billing statements that are cleverly disguised as "junk mail". Apparently I threw out a billing statement a couple of months ago, mistaking it for junk mail. This caused me to be late on a payment, ONCE. Realizing my mistake I called FIA immediately to explain. They immediately demanded to know my bank information so they could take a payment from me. The person on the other end sounded like an inarticulate, stupid gang thug so I told him no. I told him I'd be sending my payment the normal way in about ten days.
Since then I have been harassed and threatened by FIA at least every other day, by telephone. This morning they harassed me at work and once they reached me, they tried to talk to my wife.
I got a supervisor on the phone, another smack-talking ghetto rat who tried to strong arm me into giving up my checking account. I told her no. And I demanded they stop calling me. She said they would not stop. I said "fine, then cancel my account." The hood rat replied: "Fine, I just canceled your account, but we gonna keep calling you every day until you make your payment."
Do a simple google search and you will see this is standard practice for these thugs.
Thanks!

Harrassment
FIA card services calls on my cell phone looking for somebody I never heard of. I tell them it's a wrong number. They call back 2 or 3 times a day. EVERY SINGLE TIME I tell them I'm not the guy and never heard of him. Obviously he gave a fake number. But they keep calling. 3 different times I get a "manager" on the line who guarantees they'll take the number out of the file. And a few days later they call back. But I can't just block the calls because it's from "UNKNOWN". No caller ID is presented in advance as far as I can tell. So I finally just said, yes, I'm the guy. I gave them BS information as I collected where they were, who I was talking to, how much I supposed owed... I think told them I wasn't' the guy, it was all bullshit and that now I finally knew where they were calling from (Kansas) and who they were and what bank hired them. I asked to speak to a manager again and threatened filing a complaint with the state board and whoever else I can find. That was today. We'll see if they call back tomorrow again. I feel like I'm in Ground Hound Day.

Unauthorized Charges
I had been paying perfectly thru their auto debit program for 7 months, when they made an unauthorized charge. I called in advance of an upcoming debit, and talked to a representative Kalib in their Brea, California call center and he "guaranteed it would be changed". Just kept saying no problem, "wont be an issue". Basically spewing lies just to appease me. In my experience the representatives there with some few exceptions don't care, and worse don't seem to know what there talking about. They sound like their half asleep. FIA must employ some of the bottom of the barrel front line service people within the industry. I guess it works Bank of America who owns FIA, states its a profitable division for them. However all that being said when and if you can ever reach a manager they seemed (as they should) more engaged and educated. Good luck in getting thru the front lines.

late fee
It's the third time fia card services has not sent me a bill and charged a late fee. they also cut my credit limit and raised interest. they said it was my duty to know that i owe them and pay them without a bill. this is the worst credit card company. I know they make a ton of money on late fees.
