scam
On 5/4/2009, I got a "partially Blocked Caller ID " from 800 533-0231 which left a message on my answering machine.
I called the number to find out and they started giving me the third degree and started telling me about their client, (Name Withheld) who owned them money and was past due 30 days. He said he worked for the Tennessee Office for Bank of America. I told him He was not with Bank of America because I just keyed in his telephone number on the Internet and he worked for a collections company, the one listed here.
He went on about some lady, and I told the guy that he couldn't disclose that information which is a violation of the Federal Privacy Act and that it was "Illegal" to block caller ID's.

I Quoted the Law and gave the jerk the URL which is at the Federal Trade Commission at:
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/business/marketing/bus27.shtm.
The Law is The FCC’s telemarketing regulations under the TCPA also include provisions governing the transmission of Caller ID (47 C.F.R. § 64.1200).
It states., "If you have caller ID, a telemarketer it is required to transmit or display its phone number and, if available, its name or the name and phone number of the company for which it is selling products. The display must... include a phone number that you can call during regular business hours to ask that the company no longer call you.
This rule applies even if you have an EBR (existing business relationship) with the company, and even if you have not registered your home phone number(s) on the national Do-Not-Call list. Caller ID may Not include the words: “private, ” “out of area, ” or “unavailable” might have appeared on the Caller ID display, the Caller ID MUST be there now or its illegal!

Interest Rates
The Credit Union of Texas recently sold their MasterCard business to FIA services. I recently received a letter from FIA stating they were raising my interest rates to 19.99%, a 7% increase. I have an excellent credit score and have been with this credit card since 1983. FIA stated in their letter that, "As part of the Annual Percentage Rate Increase Amendment decision, we obtained consumer report information..." When I called, I was told that they were raising rates for everyone regardless of credit scores. When I asked how that could be they said that the cost of money had risen. When I suggested that the Federal Discount Rate was at 0.5% whereas a year ago it was at 2.50% when it wasn't seen fit to raise the card rate, I was told that I didn't know what I was talking about. I then suggested that they might be trying to cover off on bad loans by maximizing their income on the backs of others. Run away from this draconian company as fast as you can and tell everyone what they're doing. I cancelled my card and will pay it off at the lower rate. What are they thinking?

Harassment
I have been trying for 4 months to get Bank of America /FIA Card Services to quit sending letters and statements requesting payment on two credit card accounts. These accounts are in my son's name. I have tried to get them to stop the harassment for payment on these accounts. They have been informed since December 2008 that my son was sentenced to prison for 10 years and would not be making payments. Somehow they changed his billing address to my address (I did not call to make this change and neither did my son). The US Post Office was the only place a change of address was made so his mail could come here. I don't know how they got my address. Today, after a Fedx letter was delivered to my address, I called again (4/23/09) to asked that my address be taken off their records. A supervisor kept me on the phone for five minutes trying to threaten what would happen if I or someone else did not make financial arrangements to pay on this account. He kept on with the guilt trip that a parent should take on the financial responsibility of a child (in this case a 45 year old adult). I kept asking him to honor my request to remove my address. This supervisor just kept on and on until I finally just had to hang up. Maureen Burd Agent-in-Fact for Robert Burd

Cancelling credit lines for no reason
Get this - FIA seems to be going on a rampage - my wife had applied to one of their offers for a "new" signature card because it was offered without a fee.

They called her and during the course of the discussion determined that she didn't work ( she's been a stay at home mom for 25 years). At which point the customer service agent told her he was not going to approve her and would even lower her current credit limit. Needles to say - she was pissed and told him so..

So it turns out the little vindictive bastard types it up wrong ... and subsequently reports that I don't work ... so get this - they summarily cancel BOTH of my credit cards and my wifes as well ( all which had a zero balance of course) - without telling us! ( well - we did get a letter - 10 days later). Needles to say all ties to BofA have been severed - after 25 years of carefully building my credit - some low level idiot wipes out about 80K of credit line - because one of their customer service agents sucks - Good Riddance BOA.

Erronous information to credit bureaus
This is a ridiculous bank to deal with, I have been there outstanding customer with greath payment history since 1996. During 2007 we missed one payment due to move from one state to another, they removed the late payment as well, but sent late payment info to 3 credit bureaus. I argued with the nasty CSR who called herself Account Manager to take care of this matter as the fault was no-one's.
She was adamant that they report all late payments and will not rectify information with the credit bureau.
They didn't seem to care about customer loyalty, good payment history at all.
Too bad, they are going to loose me as a customer who has a very high end credit line, charge about $6K on an average every month, and pays off balance in full at the end of the month.

Excessive Finance Charges
I paid off the credit card in April and received the May bill for $171.09. I missed the new deadline which I didn't know had changed and was charged a late fee of $39.00 plus finance charges of $87.22 based on the amount before it was paid off. I called the company contesting the charges and got nowhere. You would think that a credible company would remove both charges since I've wiped out the debt on this card.

Outrageous APR's to good customers
Without even a full month's notice, on 4.12.09, FIA Card Services decided to change my fixed 9.99% rate to a 21.99% VARIABLE rate and gave NO reason for this.

We never missed a payment and as this was formerly MBNA, we had this card for over 10 years and always payed much more than the required payment amount and always paid early, too!

Employees of FIA Card Services need to get locked up! They are absolute criminals!!

POOR-VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
Pirates and thieves thrive in the credit market. FIA is the leader. Due to the current state of economics I am forced to reduce payments. Don’t ask this company for help. Now they are raising my rates because I am having troubles meeting the minimum payments. If I can’t make the current, what the hell makes this company think I can make the new payments? I am going to find a way to take legal action against them. This company is the same as AIG, GMAC, Enron and all the other THIEVES…..
