Consumer Portfolio Services is the most harassing service I, or anyone I know, have ever dealt with.
They are unconcerned harassers. Some time after Hurricane Katrina, I evacuated to Georgia. I had nothing and was living with a relative. The only thing I did possess were the clothes on my back, two other outfits, a cell phone, and a Kia Van (which was more than most). When the company reached me, which was about one month after the storm, I tried to explain that I had no money to pay a car note at the time. I was then asked when will I receive money from FEMA.The company tried to arranged for me to pay the two back payments and what was currently due from FEMA money that I had not even received yet! I was threatened and told that my van would be repossessed if I did not get money from FEMA soon!
On top of all the tragedy, I had to deal with this horrible company! Months later, after catching up, I still got harrassing phone calls on my job, and at various times, like early in the morning or late at night. These calls were not due to late payment but because a payment was soon due! I reported this to the BBB and the calls stopped on my job.
Thank God, I only owe one more payment and I am finally through with this company. IF YOU ARE WITH THEM NOW, TRY TO RE-NEGOTIATE WITH THE CAR DEALERSHIP; ASK THEM TO PLACE YOUR ACCOUNT WITH ANOTHER FINANCE COMPANY and do not go through what I or others endured. CPS IS A NIGHT MARE!!!
