Theft of funds. Outright con job
After viewing a nice video, you submit your interest on line. Someone calls to schedule an appointment phone-interview where the business is outlined by an older guy who sounds quite believable. It seemed very legit and convincing. When I checked at the time, there were only two complaints. However, there was no history or anything of substance about the company on line which was a little troubling. They made of good case for why they needed an up front check for $1488...to pay for mailings with my name/phone, etc. I was given an e-mail of info. to study. But...after that, no call was ever returned. Days went by. The company never answers the phone, or returns calls. Once you send the money in, it's game over. You are like the fly in the Venus Fly Trap. The big cheese is one Paul Mandel ( if that is really his name)
It's all a carefully crafted charade to take $1, 488 from you and leave you with nothing. The detail and the story they've cooked up are so convincing, that it seemed hard to believe they'd go thru this level of fraud, but that's the beauty of it. The original add was on Craig's List, and the lesson is : Most opportunities on the Net are scams, dreamed up by a thief with no morals or conscience, who no doubt delights in his crime which he foists off. This guy is right up there. A mini-Madoff who lives by deceit. Now I see there are many more complaints, and the BBBureau gives Financial Associates a grade of F

fraud/deceptive business practices
they scammed me out of $1488
They advertised on Craigs List Monday May 10, 2010 PostingID: 1733519721
the ad it states NO COLD CALLING
i sent them a resume via e-ail and was called by a company representative who directed me to the company website and to call back if interested. i called back the next day and they arranged a phone interview for the next day with paul mandel. in the phone interview he stated they will send 5000 mailers to generate leads but they need you to send $1488 as a deposit for the first mailing.+
there was never any mention whatsoever about cold calling. I asked him specifically "there is no cold calling, all of the leads are generated by the mailers which i am basically paying for initially so you know i'm committed?" he replied "that exactly correct eric...we will mail out the 5000 mailers that same day"
they then e-mailed me an agent manual which confirmed they will send 5000 mailers to generate leads and they require $1488 as a deposit for the first mailing.
again there is no mention whatsoever about cold calling
after they got my $1488 i e-mailed and called to confirm mailing, paul mandel to my disbelief told me I would be required to "cold call out of the yellow pages to restaurants" and only after mt first deal is secured cold calling would they send the 5000 mailing which I had paid for
they refuse to return my money. at this point they have proven themselves to be fraudulent, deceptive, misleading, and predatory so it is reasonable i would be subject to the same fraudulent deceptive, misleading, and predatory tactics and manipulation if i were to continue the business relationship we started. so even if they sent the mailers out at this point thats not good enough i want my money back
